This is so ridiculous. All this does is shift the responsibility and expense of removal onto YouTube, and with the amount of videos it hosts it's truly impossible for it to moderate each and every single one.

These artists won't be laughing if YouTube has no option but to halt user-contributed content, as daily visits to the app would decline, and therefore the precious views on their videos would decline with their sales.

Well, it is quite obvious isn't it?

Any artists of any caliber saying it was never about the money are clearly lying.

One of general reason why people want to get into showbiz be it music or acting, is because it generates lots of $$$

Anyone who believes them saying it wasn't about the money muat be pretty young or naive to begin with.

This, in Gaga's case she is still true to her craft and talent as opposed to some new pop artist who looks pretty and gets autotuned. And I wouldn't have said this about Gaga around TFM era she still did support a lot of young new designers etc... But now with all that Versace,YSL, Chanel, Tom Ford product pushing in her Instagram posts is a little well...that's for another thread.

On topic, however, She's a never ending contradiction of herself and that Jamie-Lee interview spelled that out big time! It also showcased her values but at the end of the day, she's there to also make money she's set herself up a team to assure that from the very beginning of her rise to fame. She's not always going to do things or decisions that will please everyone.

Wouldn't this do the opposite? You'll only be able to stream from official sources, therefore giving her more sales? People putting her music up themselves doesn't help her on the charts

well i feel like on youtube she would get streams from both music and video lovers

she could somehow ban those other from putting up her music, like taylor swift does, like you can't find a taylor swift song on youtube unless it's one her official channel

I'm not sure if I understood this petition, but I think it's a good idea!

YouTube is far too powerful and they should see that they can do everything they want to do.

i rather want the artists to get this money instead of YouTube...

That's stupid since they're following the law.

------------------------------------------

This petitition is utterly messy. As a hosting service, YouTube isn't responsible for the content uploaded. If something illegal is posted (a poor TS lyric video from a fan), someone (her label) need to send a notification to YouTube that has the obligation (if the content is indeed illegal) to remove the video.

The DMCA already make it way easier than it should, I don't see why it should be reformed. YouTube already check the videos because of this. This artists that signed that petition are just greedy af. If you want illegal stuff to be removed just hire a team that will check YouTube daily and send notification to Google. Thinking that YouTube will check every video isn't even imaginable cause it would mean YouTube wouldn't be a hosting service anymore but a website editor. As a website editor, Google/YouTube would be responsible for EVERY video posted on the website and not only music ones. Let's just say it, it would be the end of YouTube, Google would never invest that much money on a service. (Google don't earn a lot of money from YouTube, like not a lot at all since they always have to invest to support the audience)

Sizzily

I hate how they say "  Currently, it allows sites such as YouTube to host any music and videos posted by users, providing they comply with requests from artists to remove the material if they protest." Its completely discouraged on Youtube. There's already a (sh*tty) automated system that does more than half that.

Mythos

I can't at some people still beliving it's about the music and not the bling. If she really thought like that, we would have so many songs by now, released for free.

I don't think that's a bad thing, she is just another business woman, looking out for her interest, so was it from beginning and will always be.

Fame Monster eat her heart. :derpga:

Of course she loves money

if not she will give us more if not all music videos from ARTPOP funded by herself like she promised

That's why I admire Melanie Martinez for keeping her promise to make music videos for every single song on Cry Baby album, She funded, directed and wrote the treatment for her music videos by herself

It doesn't have to be high budget, if she truly wanna do it she can, but she chose not to :fthis:

The Surrealist

What the actual FAQ are you melting down about?

There 180 (!) artists on that list. Among Legends like Cher, Elton John, Cee Lo Green, Pink, Trent Reznor, Sting, Rod Stewart, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and many more. The only ones who are not on the list are Beyonce and Rihanna.

These artists work for their money. Even if they got millions already, that doesn't mean that they are working for free now. They need to pay for things. What if YOU wouldn't get your money for working hard on something?

YouTube gets like 50 gajillion uploads an hour and these artists expect YT to be able to stop any copyrighted material being posted without permission?

Like I just don't think that's realistic. It's just a tough reality of the digital era that the music industry needs to work around rather than attempting to block.

Rihanna never gives a **** about everything

that's why she keeps doing what she's doing and people love it

sometimes act and talk to much can turn people off

that's what Gaga do, sometimes
