Gaga joins the War

Gaga and other big artists signing this gives a voice to smaller, up-and-coming acts who also deserve to be paid for their work (and arguably need the money even more). Up-and-coming acts have no clout to influence big corporations like YouTube, so it's up to the biggest artists to speak up for them.

All of you complaining that she is "contradicting" herself or is all about the bling now are missing the point...and incredibly shortsighted. The music industry is in survival mode, and if they don't do anything about the way music is monetized now we won't have a music industry in 15 years.

@StrawberryBlond I was wondering the same thing. I mean, I think there's already some sort of algorithm in place that scans for specific audio used in videos- sometimes inaccurate (though, I'm not sure, and I'm wondering if that particular search for copyright infringement is completely manual or not).

I agree it would be unfair to take down videos that merely use the song in such a manner that you mentioned. Unofficial lyric videos and repeated music video uploads, though, seem like they should already be cleaned up in the first place.

3 points in and ready for more

Lady Gaga is probably looking at this thread like is that why ARTPOP didn't go platinum in the US? I said music not the bling, don't pirate my sh!t. lol Glad that there are many souls that are with gaga on this unlike that gaga tweet from the Orlando ordeal where ppl didn't think it was proper for her to feel sad and promote a president who could have help prevented it from happening :v:

In case anyone doesn't know how to respond to this, here are a couple of comments from that Taylor thread that might come in handy:

"Desperate to make headlines"

"There are more important issues"

"Greedy"

"No wonder she can't keep a man"

Sister

I am against every artist who is for this and complaining.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Uggh, while they make a big fuss about the DMCA, it's gonna return to sh!thole Youtube was in just a few months.

And it's not gonna stop all the other things artists don't like.

But those of you saying we won't have a music industry... many people are happily giving away their work, and know fully well there is no stopping illegal downloading and hosting, and they may even welcome it.

This is just a big ass fuss that will go away soon.

So many idiots in this thread. Music is her job, she has to be paid for it.

CHROMATICA 2020
Spoiler

I don't know if someone already posted this viewpoint but oh well

Although I agree with the whole copyright and artists wanting to earn their share, some listeners use YouTube as a means of listening to music since they may not be able to afford the album or streaming accounts like Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, or more. They may intend to buy the album later on, as I have done so with Cry Baby, Lemonade, ANTI, and others, but there isn't the money for the purchase at the moment.

Just my two cents. :/
