I don't see anything contradicting what she's said in the past. "Music not the bling" doesn't mean she shouldn't get paid for her work.

except she does get paid for her work, I think she's living quite comfortably without youtube money.

It's not youtube money.  It's the singles and albums that will not be purchased when people get them for free from youtube.  Piracy takes away the bread & butter traditional sales that artists deserve.

I live outside the space time continuum.

Did any of you read exactly what this petition is about?

Youtube is taking advantage of many artists' work to make money, and guess what, the artists don't get the money they deserve. This is beyond money. It's about getting back for what you worked for.

Would you like Youtube getting like, I don't know, 70% of your work? It's not fair.

Good point. I mean, if I sold something on Ebay and Ebay took 70% of the money, I'd be pretty pissed.

I buy Gaga songs but I always listen to them on YouTube, and when I can on official channels (so it counts for streaming / coins). It's not like she is losing $1m for one lyrics video with 200 000 views

While I get where she and other artists are coming from in wanting to protect their work, YouTube isn't really a service for big name artists with record contracts with huge PR campaigns that don't need extra exposure, however new artists and bands crave that type of exposure and spam and broadcast their material as promotional to bring attention to their albums and/or tours. I think that is what streaming ought to be for in the first place, it is a way to side step radio and broadcasting kingpins who only play a select few from hundreds to thousands of performers out there.

When it's all said and done, is this suppose to help artists boost sales? Because I doubt knocking out uploaders of content would propel people to buy more music they couldn't afford in the first place.  Anyone here would be inclined to buy music after this?  I only buy music I know I'm going to like, because who has money to burn these days?

And before you call me a bad fan, I bought most of Lady Gaga's albums and I don't give a crap about fan politics.

Do your own research.

Oh The HYPOCRACY in this thread too. Hmmm let's try to recall how most reacted to Taylor, Adele and Tindal -gates to name a few concerning this subject ;)

I don't see anything wrong with this.....

but Interactive has done nothing to prevent people from uploading her songs to YouTube

Just search any Lady Gaga song (single or album track) on YouTube and you can listen to the whole entire song. Now search Adele, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, or even Calvin Harris and you won't find their songs unless they're on their   VEVO or labels channel.

"Steal", they are the platform she's using to spread the videos, if anything they deserve it. This is nothing but a bunch of petty millionaires trying to get a quick buck that they don't need out of youtube. They've lived thus far without it, they can keep living without it.
