You know...I'd cool down if I was Taylor...it's one thing to stand against spotify when you're the girl of moment...it's a different thing to stand against youtube (and, in consequence, google) when Beyoncé is reigning supreme...just saying...

They have all your p0rn searches Tay, watch out...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I don't like her but I'm here for this. Despite the fact that her and those other big names could use their position and wealth to do MUCH more to make it easier for newer and unsigned artists, this isn't a bad thing. It does make them look kind of greedy and this is why I don't completely laugh at the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye etc for trying to make TIDAL happen because at least there was the intention to make it better. But that's another story...

It's necessary for streaming to become more profitable because it WILL become the biggest legal form of music consumption years down the line. It just makes sense. But if younger/independent artists can't pull in the revenue then creativity will suffer and all of you complaining about how basic/generic Top 40 is better get used to it. Especially if you're trying to shade the likes of Taylor Swift who are attempting to make a difference.

Maybe it is out of greed. She seems like a greedy person. But as long as she can make some change and it helps less fortunate artists who don't have a voice, then I don't care. She can be as greedy as she likes lol.

Well I dont care but if this pulls through just consider--streaming will take a hit and the industry game might go back to pure sales :v:

No it won't :rip: Streaming is not something the industry pushed. Sales are far more profitable for everyone. It's just the lesser evil in comparison with piracy... Streaming is not a choice, it's a compromise.

It's always been like this. If you are using other artists work you need to have an agreement or pay them. It's just that it isn't right when it's about internet because the law isn't updated or adapted to this new generation.

I'm all in for what Taylor is doing - it's what's fair to everybody. She's already rich and probably doesn't do it only for her. Remember there are less successful artists that need money to keep making their work. Swift and the others are kinda leaving behind a legacy with this and making it right for our and the next generations.

Seriously though :laughga:

I mean, I get it, but it comes off badly from her; like its not a battle that's really hurting her in any significant way, so shes speaking over everyone that it does hurt, even if she's trying to help them in the big picture, it just rubs people the wrong way :rip: White privilege teas tbh.

This will just make finding music on youtube harder; it wont be impossible though, youtube takes down copyrighted music all of the damn time, so people settle for listening to slowed down or sped up versions or pitched versions. This would be a step towards trying to make music easy to listen to for free less of a thing, but It wont completely solve that by any means. I think she should aim higher, this will just piss people off; also, it totally depends on YouTube (who people LOVE; this isn't Apple and their fake bend over backwards for Taylor thing :rip: ) so we'll see.

That doesn't make sense. You can literally preview 30 seconds of any song on iTunes for free before buying it. So your argument is unfounded.

Great. That's iTunes. Not YouTube. My argument holds true to me and the rest of them when that bill undoubtly gets past. We will see who will have the last laugh then.

I agree with her. It's her work she deserves to get paid for it.

Boohooo. Really? :saladga:

I find it obnoxious from her and the other artists to demand for royalties when she's supposed to be one of the richest artists under 30. I feel like she forgets that the people who work for these companies and who work daily to make the platform support more and more videos, need to be paid as well :saladga:

I'm not surprised though. :duck:

So what? She's right to fight for artists, they've been ****ed by streaming services for far too long. If you were in her situation, even tho you'd been already a millionaire, I sure bet you would be fighting for every penny that other people would be making on your back, and rightfully so.
