The original article has got to be THE most misleading thing EVER! The article title should not be "Taylor Swift at war with YouTube", it should be "Huge list of artists want to alter the DMCA". Maybe I should change the thread title. (Sorry OP, not blaming you, I was totally suckered by the article too!) Updated the thread title Well yeah I was a bit confused but I understood the whole deal now Spoiler Quite pressed for getting warned just for quoting the whole article

I would imagine she probably donated to the cause, but she doesn't put all her business out there when it comes to donations. She did the same thing as Gaga which was tweet and may not have just been able to speak in front of a crowd of gays for a vigil that takes a lot of strength. Support is support at the any of the day and gagadaily and others need to stop measuring it. I appreciate her saying SOMETHING, when she didn't have to say anything. My point was she could've went the whole way, and really mentioned and driven it home that she agrees it was a hate crime on LGBT on this occasion when many people have *offensively* stated otherwise

Ronk 14,762
There is no problem with copyrights and royalties. Artists should be paid for their work. However, youtube has a serious problem with how they enforce this. An automated program scans everything posted on youtube and compares it with with the audio of all copyrighted songs. If the program finds a match, youtube takes action by either removing the video or posting ads on it and blocking it from being viewed on mobile devices. The problem is that even a small portion of a copyrighted song causes this action, and no human looks at it to determine the circumstances. One person videoed his baby taking its first steps. He posted it on youtube for family and friends to see. But when he was taking the video, someone in another room was listening to the radio and a copyrighted song was playing. The music had nothing at all to do with the video, but the video was blocked by youtube. I watched someone's video about Gaga which contained in the background very small segments of several Gaga songs. One of the songs I didn't recognize was very catchy, so I purchased it on amazon. So this song snippet gained Gaga a sale of the entire song, it did not cost her a sale. I make my own videos about Gaga which also contain small portions of several songs as background, and I'm quite certain that nobody is going to use a snippet instead of purchasing the song. If anything, it will gain Gaga sales. Yet youtube posted ads on my videos and blocked them from mobile devices. It's good that copyright laws allow artists to gain royalties from their work, but youtube's methodology needs fixing. I live outside the space time continuum. and i oop 1,360
This really annoys me. Why is Cher on here!?! She doesn't even really have a VEVO! So would all of her old videos just get deleted from all of Youtube? Madonna and Nicki Minaj are the only singers I'm a fan of that aren't on the list.
