The whole reason the constitution is as vague as it is is because it was designed to be able to evolve with society. I'm sure the people who ratified the second amendment in 1791, armed with muskets, hand cannons, and a repeating rifle that had to be pumped by hand or by horse, had no idea that we'd eventually have weapons that can gun down dozens of people in seconds.
