Nobody really knows how industry works

Or at least not the GP. People think that the artists have much more control over their career than they really do. And that the songs that are written and released were not part of some big industry machine. I dated a beyonce Stan (it didn't last, obviously 👀) and he was sure that beyonce did everything herself. He said that she had written every one of her songs. He mentioned how she had the best selling album every year(of course he was just wrong about that one).

but in a lot of cases, people think the artists write their songs or that a writing credit means the artist actually was involved. Which a lot of the time it's bought, and the entire industry process is just that - processed . My bff works in the biz in Cali, and has attended conferences and met the people that work behind the scenes. There is literally like speed dating, where writers meet at a table for a few seconds, then switch tables. Eventually songs are clumped together , then spit out . There is a castle literally where all the top writers meet once a year and anyone who got a #1 has their name on the wall. It's all processed and made to look like the artist has all the control but they don't. I assume that gaga writes her own music, which is rare. But that's hardly ever the case and it's nuts how people are so blind at how things work behind the scenes and how they believe it's a totally linear thing, it reminds me of politics and how so many people believe the first thing they hear when clearly everything presented to us was discussed and dictated beforehand to make it consumable to lean us in one direction . I wish that more people would acknowledge that things are hardly ever as they appear .

Sia has confirmed that Beyoncé is extremely involved, to the point that she didn't even enjoy writing for her 'cause Bey was so obsessed with getting every single instrument line right.

I think that pop lovers complaining about creative involvement are very hilariously self-defeating. You're not stanning for Björk. You're stanning for a pop artist who has made several songs by just taking a finished instrumental and writing a melody over it. You're stanning for a pop artist who has a whole creative team behind her. Get your **** together and stop acting you're better than everyone else 'cause your fav is supposedly better than everyone else :chica:

"I wish that more people would acknowledge that things are hardly ever as they appear"

Do that with your own fav first, maybe :gaycat:

I think I know quite a lot about the industry but not everything, of course :sis:

"There is a castle literally where all the top writers meet once a year and anyone who got a #1 has their name on the wall." What :wtf:

"It's all processed and made to look like the artist has all the control but they don't. I assume that gaga writes her own music, which is rare" It's really obvious for a person who's interested in the music industry a little bit more than an average person. Back in 2008-10 Gaga was way more controlled by her team too.

"But that's hardly ever the case and it's nuts how people are so blind at how things work behind the scenes and how they believe it's a totally linear thing, it reminds me of politics and how so many people believe the first thing they hear when clearly everything presented to us was discussed and dictated beforehand to make it consumable to lean us in one direction . Isn't Katy the main writer in most of her songs? Sia's meeting with her also proved that she is a songwriter

"Entire" industry? No :rip:

Songwriters have always been a part of mainstream pop music since it was created. Most people aren't deceptive about it, which is why I laugh when people pull up Rihanna and Beyonce on the amount of songwriting credits... They aren't hiding anything so you're bashing people for what, exactly?

I know that we can help Gaga to have two more VEVO Certified videos.

Who cares about views? How many of those artists that have 1billion+ views can sing, dance, and put on a show better than Gaga?

Ikr. Imagine these people criticizing Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Céline Dion,... for not writing their own songs :rip: And before people quote me saying "well at least those people could sing", pop music is about entertainment value so that's still no good reason to pretend that some pop artists' careers are illegitimate because they don't answer to your standard of quality, which if you're pitting pop artists against each other shouldn't be very impressive anyway :poot:

Pop elitists are the worst.

Thief would have put her name on the songwriting credits of Ave Maria if she could

Did Sia said she and Katy have so many conflicts when writing together? If she's just a puppet, I doubt she'll give the writer a hard time and just sing some like.

Pop music is not about entertainment value, it's about the music. People don't buy albums because they're 'entertaining', they buy them/listen because they connect with the music. Drake/Adele/Bieber aren't entertaining, people just like the music they put out. Sure music that gets promoted at entertainment events like the VMA's get a big advantage because they get more exposure, but it's not the reason people buy the song.
