You could also say why should straight couples make babies when there are children needing adoption.

(for the record- I also believe it's better for people to adopt than make another child when there are so many in need of loving homes in the world)

This is amazing! We are the only ones who can define what's possible. Without science, many of the things we do now were "impossible" 100+ years ago. Kudos to all those who worked hard in this research (and in other research too!)

Well, the killer bees weren't intentionally made that way. The African bees were brought over, but it was their hybridization with the other non-native European honey bee that produced the "killer bee" genetic offspring. But that hybridization was not done directly by humans; it was the unfortunate result of the African bees in quarantine getting out and breeding with the European bees. 

(regardless, it was the introduction of both species which lead to the hybridization, but the genetic hybridization itself was not intentionally carried out by genetic tampering or humans)
