It's not like Applause would have been number one if Roar did not come out. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. Roar was #1. Well it would be a top

Angel Down 2,807
What I love about applause is that it always sounds fresh... I found the mv just terrible but it's just me. Still I think that Aura would be a better lead single if it didn't have those hahahas or if it was was more radio friendly vocal-wise or production-wise. Its chorus is one of the best I've ever heard in my life
Swan Heart 7,382
I do love it very much. Still can't believe it was overshadowed by that goddamn awlful Katy Perry song.. They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
Anderson123 38,414
Not even in her top 20 songs I think. I appreciate the song and I like it, it's cute, the message and all but it's nothing amazing compared to other songs like Bad Romance, The Edge of Glory, Marry The Night, etc. all of those songs have a Gaga soul that is hard to explain. Of course, I couldn't picture any other popstar singing to Applause, but still, it's just a weird relationship I have with it. Gaga herself has said that the song was almost scrapped from the final tracklisting, so that has to tell you something. They kept it just for the message. The instrumental is great tho, DJ White Shadow did a great job on this, it kind of has this 80's/90's videogame sound which I love about it.
Seeka 12,372
No I don't think so. Out of all Gaga songs, Applause isn't in my top ten. It's one of my preferred singles, but it's not favorite song.

She even said that there was a fight between Applause and sex dreams for the lead single 2)Also I doubt that Interscope gives a **** about the message. They kept it because it's a really catchy, awesome, interesting, radio friendly pop song. GloriousRomance 148
Applause is probably my least favourite Gaga song from her entire discography. No shade.
