TIME magazine comes for Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj

Social media and its poisonous netiquette are insufferable. Why do people expect every celebrity to grieve on a platform, that has been built on the basis of marketing strategies and facilitating buyer-seller communication?

This article is embarrassing. Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj are supposedly indifferent to the tragedy, but Katy Perry is basically off the hook, because she tweeted once (?). That's absolutely ridiculous. No one should be obliged to comment on every tragedy or mourn in public. In fact, it's become extremely common for people to exploit situations like these for their own purposes or to indulge in a false sense of accomplishment, by joining the cringefest that is #PrayFor[insert-most-recent-tragedy-that-is-relevant-to-Western-society]. I'm not religious, but I'm familiar with the concept of praying and it doesn't involve hashtags, likes or retweets.

If celebrities and people in general want to help and not just ease their own pain or conform to newly established social standards, there are a million ways to actually be of help.

I feel like Taylor would be the one who cares more about the gun rights and make post about how Isis is evil. She is a republican after all :emma:

True colours are finally being revealed.

Nicki Minaj wants LBGT money, attention and adoration. But in times of sorrow when the LGBT community nees words of comfort and solidarity they get nothing from Nicki. A cold shoulder. She's clearly only there for the good times. Just for the party. Never when you need her the most. Same goes for Taylor.

Thank you Time magazine for exposing these harlots.

We don't need this type of negativity at this time. This thread should be locked. Spread love. Not hate. Just because Gaga wants to speak in front of a vigil does not make anyone less who does not how about we just celebrate her and not strike other people down just because they have spoken as much as she has... Time Magazine was very stupid for writing this article. Just praise Gaga and talk about the moment. Do not bring down other women in the process. Horrible article.

This is not negativity, it's just exposing the truth. Showing who are the ones that really care about the LGBT community in all type of contexts, and who "supports" it when their albums are being released.

Why do people actually think tweets matter in the grand scheme of thing? I only just said anything about the incident on social media today but that doesn't mean my heart wasn't going out to the victims from behind my screen before then.

I get that it means a lot to the fans to have their fave stick up for them and what they believe in, but if people are this butthurt over what a celebrity does or does not say on the internet they really need to think about their priorities when it comes to making a difference in the world.

I'm glad Nicki's getting dragged. Her and Jessie J pretending to be bisexual really ****ing grinds my gears.

I didn't know they were obligated to do so.

If you actually read the whole article, the ending sums it up perfectly. Basically saying that the audience should understand the difference between authenticity (Gaga) and commercial entertainment(Taylor).

Even Chick-Fil-A opened on Sunday to donate food to the people waiting in line to give blood and first responders. I find it odd that TS or NM did or said nothing. I guess brand really is more important than people.

That thread is the worst of what GGD is about. But honestly when people are that hurt they need someone to direct their anger pain and frustration towards. And it was a mistake to make the tweet (later deleted) at that time, but people went for her jugular.
