I don't think it was terror related. Reports said the armed gunman was Somalian, most probably Islamic, so there are Arabic written stuff in his car? I am really guessing this is a repercussion on the stigma against Muslims. The guy he hostaged was probably someone who was racist against him? Hate to stereotype people but they're in Texas. It looks like an isolated case and not related to other attacks because he hostaged one or two co-workers that he knows and no one else. The problem isn't in the weapon they use, the problem is that they're using any weapon against someone. I usually agree with you, but I'd rather deal with someone who's armed with a knife than with a gun. While both weapons are deadly, a gunman can deal way more damage to a group of people. If this guy here had a knife, the hostages could have run away. But yes, the root of hostage situations is definitely deeper than access to weapons.
