I'm from the south and I actually know of a LOT of people that have similar stances (it's sad but some people actually feel this way ), I think it stems from how Obama presents his foreign policy vs. how past presidents have. Many conservatives praise the "big stick" way of dealing with enemies while I think of Obama's foreign policy as more comparable to a river, gentle at first but the water can rise quickly and over time it will eventually be too much and sweep you away.

I honestly think that in 30 years whenever Obama's papers are declassified we're going to see that he was secretly extremely tough when it comes to military matters (there was some other president that was like this but I can't remember which one it was; the public thought he was weak but he was actually known to rule with an iron fist in inner circles).
