The Fame (Monser) Vs. ARTPOP

That Applause performance, like most of the era, was so over the top that I actually ended up enjoying it. The album cover, the G.U.Y. music video, the lyrics, the Muppets "Holiday Spectacular", the tour outfits, and the list goes on,  were so kitsch and such an antithesis to what anyone would have expected out of an album called ARTPOP, it's actualy hilarious in hindsight.

You can't just pick two random performances and name them with their eras.

They are individual performances that do not represent the eras as a whole.

Not to mention you picked an award show performance to be compared with a GMA performance.

I think you are confusing the level of execution with the level of "art". The Fame Monster was definitely executed better than ARTPOP, but it doesn't make it more "art".

I mean a simple black square on a white canvas is considered to be just as "art" as complex paintings that tell a whole story.

The Fame (Monster) obviously

Didn't she say that it was the only way to 'involve' the fans into the performance?? :laughga:

The cheap costume changes, the flowers on the head.

What performance during the ARTPOP era matches the TFM one posted? I've seen them all.

DWUW AMAs is almost there, but not.

The Fame Monster was much more (in my opinion) arty.

In my messy era.

certainly makes your comparison more legit than using a GMA performance, right? Whether or not they match to each other's standard shouldn't be of your concern, since that's what we will be discussing after the making of your thread. The thing is the comparison should be fair in the first place.

Execution is part of the ART.

Although those performances don't match up to the one I posted, I think you've missed the main sentiment:

-TFM-Gaga would never have let something like ARTPOP-GMA happen. She surrounded herself with yes people or lost inspiration. Where's the pride for the art gone? Would she have done something like that on Rivington street? I don't think so.

I personally perfer ARTPOP. With ARTPOP she showed the world that she could be on top of the charts but rather not take a backseat on her work. Plus it had some great looks86680d1b-1461-4702-8f57-888dbd0b8593.jpgLady-Gaga-Photo2_ARTPOP_300CMYK1.jpg2738d6f8c014be207bbad579b9ae2dc7.jpg

I just feel as if after Dada left, and a lot of her team, she is surrounded by "Yes" people.

E.g. the guy who made the Judas single said to take a picture of something on Microsoft Word was a "**** you" to an era of digital editing - no it's not, it just looks cheap.

That was 100% Gaga though. She did it for.. Texture :neyde:

Well you chose a very poor AP-era performance. Swinefest, for instance, was a tour de force of musical virtuosity, so I think that would be a more accurate representation of the album.

For the record, I've always hated the acoustic version of "Telephone". It literally sounds like she's making it up as she goes, no discernible melody at all.
