Years of government control telling me to be mindless, complacent, consumer zombies who don't think for themselves? Why is the presidential election COMPLETELY just a popularity contest and based around who makes the funnier comments and smiles the most and 'speaks their mind'... because last I read, the president RUNS THE F*UCKING COUNTRY! I ask myself this a lot, and I wish I had an answer. People lost their ability to think for themselves, and to find truth. This years election was by far the most insane thing to date. When you think of years past like presidents in the class of JFK it's hard to understand what a great loss of wisdom this nation has somehow lost. hELXIG 43,038
I just can't get this out of my head. Ya know, this is the one thing that makes me feel like Gaga has changed. Everyone always rants about how Gaga has changed so much, she doesn't care about fans, doesn't support social issues so much any more, doesn't stop to say hi to people who wait for her, doesn't wear fashion all the time, wears martini-decorated flats in public with high waisted blue jeans... doesn't wear so many wigs, doesn't live life for the fantasy, has changed her vocal style, has changed her musical direction etc. etc. And never have I wavered about still believing that she's still as great as always. And the other few times she's mentioned Hillary I've been a little off put, but this, this one takes it to a new level. To use her celebrity status to promote Hillary with the only given reason being that she is a woman. And that she just wants to see the first woman president. I don't even know what to do with this information. She used to be so passionately involved in politics, and now she's promoting someone not because of her policies and tactics (which go against so much of what Gaga has always stood for) she's promoting them because of such a shallow reason as their f*ucking gender. Unless there's something else I don't see. Literally the only thing I can think of is this: she knows some information that tells her that Bernie can't win, and she's so afraid of a Trump presidency that she's decided Hillary is the better of the potential 2 evils. And even then, the Gaga of the past who stood behind the podium at Lincoln's memorial and gave a speech about equal rights, who made YouTube videos and pleaded people to call the senator to repeal 'don't ask don't tell', the woman who wore a meat dress to make the biggest statement of her career, and who would so passionately fight behind the people and causes that were just... she wouldn't have given in that easily. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Didymus 34,379
I have multiple issues with this. * Great that she's using her power to get people politically active, but if you're not going to explain your stance you're basically just trying to manipulate your fans into doing something because you said so instead of stimulating their awareness and knowledge. Lazy and questionable. * This doesn't prove she's voting for her 'cause she's a woman, but it's literally the only thing she's ever said about her reason for voting, so I'm gonna need several users who bashed me for suggesting that's a very probable reason she's voting to take a ****ing seat rn. * Why try to promote this message with a stereotypical image of a sexy woman? Am I the only one who finds the picture awkward? Yes, Gaga, there's other ways to discuss politics as a celebrity than to use your body for people to share your post. What the hell. But anyway, her personal views have rarely been mine, so I'm not surprised and she should above all continue, hopefully to the extent of actually explaining why she's voting for once without resorting to this bs. Bear 7,515
I don't particularly care who she supports, but she'd have a better chance of getting people to vote if she explained why she is supporting her because without any reasoning it just seems like empty endorsements. Regardless, it isn't that big of a deal. No one is going to suddenly vote for Hilary just because Gaga told them to (or at least I'd hope).

Willen 41
It's interesting to see how determined are many American artists to express their political views. Here, in France, it's a very secret thing and there are few French artists who speak out on this. It's frowned upon for the French artists to talk about politics and I think it's a great thing, I'm annoyed when I hear an artist who publicly support a trash politician like Azealia Banks (I like her music) with Trump. Great post. She made it obvious, at least in her own mind, that she thinks Hillary being a woman is essentially the prime reason to vote for her. That in of itself it highly problematic, because you know what it really demonstrates? That apparently she doesn't give a rats ass about Hillary's record, which is objectively problematic, particularly for someone who is a supposed "gay icon" and is all about freedom, equality, and justice. It demonstrates how LITTLE she knows about politics, which totally sucks because I expected so much more from her. If you're going to endorse someone, at least present a legitimate argument. This is anything but that, and it is quite honestly pathetic. Gaga has indeed changed. Or, you know, maybe she has just always been really good at hiding her political ineptitude.
