she doesn't need to dumb herself down for her fans.

Bitch what, She tries too hard to sound artistic. It's like ARTPOP era all over again :air:

Gaga tends to prattle on a bit longer than necessary.

I think at this point it's a lost cause; she's never had a knack for being brief and concise in interviews.

no she's not.

she tried to do that during the ARTPOP era but found out that many people didn't really want to "look behind the aura."

I feel like that was something completely different though, i took that as "Gaga" (the same character who existed from TF era to ARTPOP era) shedding the costumes and wigs to put emphasis on the talent or performance itself.

From what she's suggesting in this interview (I think) is that those eras are what is expected of "Gaga" but that she changes constantly, so the next era might be a big change from the first four - which I'm not saying means that she's gonna "show us what's behind the aura" rather that she's going to present gaga in entirely new ways.

Which could've been explained a lot easier tbh, as people, we all change constantly so she could've just said that the gaga character changes with her in simpler terms

But then again, her answer was really convoluted so who knows how seriously to take all of it.

I loved the last part where she explained how the countess functions, but at the beginning when talking about "Gaga", I literally don't know what she said and she talked for like two minutes :air:

How i understand her pain bahhhh this is me talking and loosing focus!!! OMG Girl just write somewhere this important stuff, have someone with a less complicated mind write the words and get it into your head. This was painful

She also was nervous by talking to a season actress. It was still a time of building confidence. People expect Gaga to be more Jamie Lee Curtis, if she goes rock savage stripped than an insecure tryhard. This is a great problem for her, poor soul. She built an image of a super woman who gives no ****, it's mostly her own fault..

I understand her. People use the word character in a bad way when referring to her, meaning she is fake and constructed only to seek attention and become famous. But Gaga is simply a better version of Stefani, a version without the insecurities, but people usually only perceive her as a weird theatrical woman and while she may actually be a weird theatrical woman sometimes, she is also many other things that people keep ignoring. Jo Calderone is a character, Candy Warhol is a character, Yüyi is a character, Gaga is simply a better version of Stefani, who happens to be more confident to do what she likes, and for this reason a character, but this doesn't mean she's not herself, she's just expressing it in an artistic way. Of course I may be wrong, but to me it's clear what she's saying and she has been explaining it since the beginning of her career. In many reviews of ARTPOP people criticize her music and say it's not relatable and too much self-centered. They are right, but that's because she has been explaining who Gaga is since the beginning: a global pop star (The Fame) who people love and hate because of the theatrical way she expresses herself (The Fame Monster), but that at the core is not different from Stefani (Born This Way) and therefore isn't afraid to state continuously her passions (ARTPOP). This became clear to me since the Marry The Night video, but people keep ignoring the interlude so...

Anyway, can we appreciate how awesome her make-up is in this interview?
