As soon as I heard the studio version of MANiCURE it felt very oldga/Famega mixed with some rocker attitude. I think it's the most 'The Fame' sounding song off ARTPOP, and if someone were to somehow skip TFM and BTW eras and go to ARTPOP, I think it'd sound the most familiar. It's got that boppy, poppy, repetitive, catchy, feel to it that The Fame had, and with the same frivolous, youthful, party-girl attitude to it, but with a gruntier rock twist. And I was thinking about the songs meanings: Just Dance is about going out, getting wasted, and and dancing away your worries. MANiCURE is about getting dolled up with the girls, and going out to find a man to have some fun with to forget your worries (and be man-cured. ) I dunno they both have a kind of 'go out and be naughty and youthful and have some fun to get over what is bothering you' kind of vibes I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. MANiCURE is incredibly catchy and boppy. I definitely think it's underrated, and that it would've gone over sooooo well on radio. A sexy, boppy, catchy, stuck-in-your-head pop-rock song about being slutty and having fun getting dressed up and catching a man? The word play of MANiCURE/man-cure. It's so radio friendly. Just Dance is about going to the club and being wasted and dancing away allll your problems, MANiCURE is about finding that sexy man at the club and taking him home and letting him put his hands all over your body parts I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. But you are right as well. ARTPOP is very pop, much more pop in some ways than TFM and BTW. Catchy, boppy, repetitive, easy to digest subject matter. The songs are all very different to one another, she's got like 10 genres flowing through that album, but the songs are all poppy. TFM and BTW are more conceptual and idealisitic and deep and philosophical and at times dark. Not easy for everyone to like. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. I mourn the loss of the would-be hit MANiCURE on pop radio stations around the world. I'm glad some people share my opinion on this actually. I thought I was all alone and that the general consensus was that everyone hated MANiCURE. It would've slayed though. It would've actually sounded familiar to the GP, kinda throwback, but also fresh and new, and she'd be bringing some pop-rock which I think in 2013 or whenever the public would've really enjoyed. And it's just, damn, catchy. You know everyone would've been singing along to: "Heeeeeal meeeee." "MAN-CURE." I love when she belts out the "heeeeeeaaallll me" part in performances. I don't know how successful it would've been as a single, but I would've really enjoyed seeing a music video for it. I think the songs that would've done the best on radio and also showed her diversity (like she wanted to with ARTPOP) would've been (in a rough order) Applause (standard pop) MANiCURE (pop-rock) Venus (alternative-pop) DWUW (R&B-pop) Gypsy (pop-ballad, great song, good lyrics, great era finisher) I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
