Is Gaga done with us (her fans)?

Not The Real Gaga

We've had a lot of theories the last couple of months about Gaga and her relationship with her fans, "Little Monsters".

For the next paragraph, I translated her statement, while it was originally publiced in a Dutch newspaper. Since I'm not a native speaker, this translation will unfortunately include some errors. I'm really sorry for that! Try to do my best! :)

Gaga stated in the interview with Jamie Lee Curtis that she 'doesn't like the idolatry'. She added: "It's hard to get along with people in a real and honest way, because they want something from me or they see me in a different way as I really am. I'm not a goddess, who had descended to sing pop music. I'm not a super-human, who needs to be kissed the whole day and needs to hear how amazing she is.''

I don't know what about you, guys. But this statement of Gaga really hurts me in deepest places of my heart. I can't imagine she doesn't like the fan attention, but I can see that it's sometimes too much for her.

But, for who is she making a new album than? I mean... She knows what her music does with a lot of us monsters. She knows what she means for us. Are we now suppose to not let our inner feelings speak if we are lucky enough to meet her? In my opinion, she cuts away the whole connection she has with her fans. Why would we in Gods name buy LG5 if it's all about the bling and not the music and the power she and her music gave us?

Or I'm complety wrong? I hope I do misread this whole interview. Oh, God help me! :(

I think she's just done with the fans that are only there to ride on her success train but don't care about her work at the end of the day. She's been making very subtle small statements like that over the years but they're dramatically increasing for the last few years.

I'm ok with it tho. Contrary to what probably most people on this forum will think, I'm one of the good ones :gaycat: *literally cackling thinking of the fury this will unleash*

I've been waiting for this for a long time. So many of her fans are not how she presents them, so it's just stupid for her to cater to what that portion of her fanbase wants. When she said in 2012 on Little Monsters.com that she knew what the fans wanted: music to dance to in the club I was like ready to ****ing burn my stan card. I want HER vision, not that of random pop stans who pretend they care about high quality work.

But now she finally seems to have broken loose from the idea that she needs to satisfy anyone but herself. And anyone not here for that doesn't deserve her attention, because they're not paying attention to her, truly, either.

She loves us we love her. So what if she doesn't like taking pictures all the time, doesn't mean she hates us, that just makes her human

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

I'm so glad that she's on a grind to cleanse the mess that our fanbase became. The real fans who accept her as she is remain. At least we'll all be set with no unrealistic expectations.

I'd rather have her release what SHE wants rather than what other fans want. Look how good The Fame and The Fame Monster were.

Ikr :rip: That's the ultimate irony. She made those albums when she didn't care (that much) about satisfying her fans, under no external pressure, and just releasing it when she wanted.

It's kind of ironic that many fans want to go back to that glory era since, if anything, Gaga's literally saying she's working in the same way again. Ofc the music will be different, but that shouldn't matter per se, unless you're a fan that probably needs to switch to another more repetitive fav :poot:

She just doesn't want people to ass kiss her and agree with everything she does or says. She doesn't want to be treated like the second coming which most do. She's just saying she's a normal woman really.

I'm not sure how that could hurt you so deep but each to their own I guess.

I'd much rather her connect with her fans through the music she's (potentially) putting out rather than pseudo words on her twitter/instagram page signing off with "xoxo Mother Monster" etc. Just because she's silent doesn't mean she doesn't care. She's an artist, not a babysitter.

Exactly, and both of them took less time to be written because she had 0 pressure.

Yeah I agree, but most of her fans tend to live in the past lmao. I hope she is working like she used to, she makes amazing music when she's fearless. The problem I have with some stans is that they complain about Gaga when they have multiple faves who can satisfy them :poot: Spill the tea for the repetitiveness and basicness :poot:

My body is ready for new and fresh music from her though :neyde:

The only thing that feels different to me tho is that when she made those albums, she didn't care that much about us but she was under her own pressure, and I'm not sure it's really there anymore : this drive she had when making those albums, she knew where she wanted to go, what she wanted to achieve and why she made them. Everything felt so under control, under her control.

Whereas now it sounds like she's making music ONLY because she's enjoying it, she doesn't have as much of a vision as she used to have, not saying she doesn't have one at all anymore, it's just not as important as being happy to make music anymore, so it makes the whole thing more human, messier.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, and I actually really enjoy this more chill and laid back Gaga, but it takes some time to get used to her new state of mind.

Hmm. Yeah, that's been on my mind too.. but I haven't voiced it here. I do think there's a lot of truth to what you're saying. When she signed that contract with Interscope she knew she wanted to prove herself, to become a global superstar, to work her ass off to live her dreams. That focus was a tremendous force that kept her act very admirably together indeed, I think.

Now.. you're right. She doesn't need to do anything anymore. It's all about what she wants now. I guess Gaga needs some time to adapt to that way of thinking too. LG5 sure will be an interesting album to explore for that reason.

Think about how she typically interacts with fans. As a mob where all anyone screams for is to take something they can have as a trophy that they met you. And many times it's the same fans clamoring for yet another selfie so they can post on Twitter and change their bio to represent another trophy bagged.  But they didn't really meet her at all, just took energy away.
