Does GGD care too much about competition?

what is there to discuss? LG5 theories have been beaten the death, there's no news and we all understand that ARTPOP is a misunderstood masterpiece

Overall, yeah. :emma: But I also think Katy and Madonna are talked about so much because a lot of people here like them. Gaga hasn't been doing much for years now so it's natural for people to start getting interested in other artist's work too, especially giving the new music and leaks a try.

Also most of the Gaga threads nowadays are pretty similar anyways. Half of them are people complaining and it gets exhausting reading them.

Take my hand. Stay, Joanne.

As in you are concerned that people won't want to be critical of LG5?

No, I'm concerned (well, not really, this forum can do as it pleases) of the exaggerated focus on competition being the prime tone of the era again instead of digging into her record and fleshing it out. @ItsTommyBitch brought up that during the ARTPOP era there were analytical threads, but if my memory serves me correctly all those ended up either flopping or doing significantly worse than threads about commercial performance and management issues concerning promo etc.

I made a few of them and some of them didn't even make two pages. And as the final irony, a lot of members made fun of the analytical threads, acting (not aiming this at you, Jalil, lol) like Gaga's work wasn't that deep and people could only be pulling things out of their asses. Talk about a poetic insult on a supposed "Gaga fansite".

We might need to consider the possibility that the present gap we're feeling between the fans and Gaga could be at least partially mended by living up to her ideals. And not living up to her disappointments.

Nini mini boss

They care so much that they can't even sleep.:D Gaga can take care of herslef and i believe in her.Every fan of her should know that. There is not reason to panic or to be afraid of any other singer in music industry. It's not world war III or attack of terrorist. It's just a music.I'm just sayin. So,let's just enjoy in the music and life. ;)

OffTopic:Some people on this forum needs to calm down.

I disagree. During the actual era and even now nearly all of the threads about ARTPOP's meaning ended up either flopping or being filled with "there is/was no concept stop trying to make it happen" comments that usually end up winning the main argument.

I see the same dynamic here now as there was during 2013/14.

Didn't most people, including you :poot:, discuss about the music itself in those Katy leak threads though?

It's not about that thread, though it's just ironic that thread got more replies than Gaga appearing at a sports event. It's the top 5 (and that was also just an illustrative example) in total that's striking: 3 threads about Katy, 2 about Gaga.

But anyway, I didn't include that screencap to make a point about those threads or whatever. It's just a funny sight. But lbr, threads about other artists so often dominate what's being discussed the most, that's why I just brought up the top 5 for this week.

What I really wanna discuss is bolded in the OP and in the spoiler.

I know I'm stereotyping but what would a bunch of gay people discuss about sports, and cars at that. :air: It also doesn't help that she is doing everything but releasing new music and serving "Gaga" looks. Her dressing style has become unusually tame so there's not even that to discuss.

So, they jump on other artists, who have some new music in one way or another. imo.

But like I said, I remember the same trend from actually within the ARTPOP era. It's about her work in general. Like I don't think I'm exaggerating when I'm saying that members here put a lot more effort and thought into slamming Katy's entire career than even attempting to analyze the ideas and concepts Gaga's presenting in hers.

Not you throwing my name out in the middle of a post :laughga:

Spoiler

For the record, I was always an ARTPOP stan, I felt it was a great concept and spent a lot of time thinking about it, I just didn't find the actual message to be that apparent in the actual soundscape of the album; it seemed more like part of the overall package, which is fine. I liked the record as just a good edm-pop record that also existed in the greater picture of the concept.

Sorry, I just don't like to mention members without letting them know I did :rip: Plus, I thought I'd offer a correction or an addition, rather, that those threads you mentioned during ARTPOP were not really a success.

And well, that's wonderful. I don't look down on people for not "getting" the album (I could write "like *insert user names*" but like I said, I don't like to do that without linking them here, so lemme not lmao), obviously my interpretation is an interpretation. But it seemed like many people just didn't even care to think about it at all, which is odd. Hence the thread and the question if that might have contributed to Gaga's interaction with the fans changing. I think it did.

In general, yes. Y'all cannot deny it.

Not only GGD does that, this just happens to be the biggest popstar fanbase forum. You can go on exhale and you can see similar stuff. Or go on POPFN (which is pretty much a beyonce stan forum) and a thread about Rihanna goes to top spot on popular in like half an hour. Considering Beyonce and Rihanna are like some rivals like Katy and Gaga. Not on ATRL cause it has all kinds of stans.

Stans of popstars care about other popstars which are competition to their fave, nothing new.

I said the same in my spoiler, but at the same time I think that's quite sad because.. why would we wanna be like anyone else? Isn't more than half of this forum continuously and desperately trying to prove that Gaga is 10x more superior to her competition? Then why shouldn't her fanbase be?

Like I brought up throughout this thread, I think a lot of fans underestimate the impact that sort of general attitude has had on her stopping to visit here (as explained by Emma) and possibly her general relationship with the fans as well. I quoted Gaga directly asking her fans to focus on her work and avoid the rest back in August 2013 and we all know how that turned out. I don't think that should be swept under the rug with the "everyone does it" argument.

There's nothing wrong about wanting to discuss these subjects, but there's nothing right about it either, so I'd like people in this thread to at least think about what kind of fanbase we want to be, and take Gaga's wishes into consideration at least. If we don't, well.. then I guess we're part of the people Gaga doesn't consider as fans anymore.
