The songs still sound as fresh as they did when it came out, and despite the lack of any obvious pop juggernauts, the album still stands as the best in her back catalogue. i disagree. judas, scheisse, hair, and the edge of glory are obvious "pop juggernauts," whatever that means. 2 hours ago, scrappy said: It may well be the case that she’ll never reach the heights of “Bad Romance” again, but it may also be the case that she doesn’t particularly care. if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back
NewYorkCity 10,536
Well, looks like media only needed 5 years to realise what an epic album it is. I am sure that as the time goes by it will be more recognised. It was ahead of its time. It has its low points, like every album. But sound and lyrics are so complex and amazing... AJH219 4,448
I'll say it again, it truly is her magnum opus 'All our dreams can come true IF we have the courage to pursue them'-Walt Disney

These aren't really. They were comparing Born This Way to The Fame/Monster where every track sounded like a big pop hit, these two songs don't, and neither do most of the tracks on Born This Way. Thats perhaps the reason why its my favorite album of hers, but its clear the majority of the songs do not sound like they'd be big hits.

Didymus 34,379
Still think the album's overrated, but the article was interesting and had some nice angles, which I appreciate. Very different from that earlier article about the same subject which was just ridiculous in its argumentation. Something I am missing, however, is the emotional dimension of the era. Gaga admitted in 2013 that she was terribly unhappy while writing the album, and last year she extended that line of thought by mentioning how overworked and pressured she was, excluding the release from her "pulling the gold" ones (TF and TFM). Makes the whole thing a lot more interesting and multi-dimensional. Anyway, surprised. Dazed & Confused is pretty alternative in its taste so it's nice to see they don't feel above discussing a pop star like Gags

But karma already got Madonna for what she did. The same media that helped her drag Gaga in 2012 is now dragging Madonna for every little thing. And she lost the support of little monsters along the way. It might have given her some much needed attention when she was releasing MDNA, but she shot herself in the foot long-term.
