Bill O'Reilly: How Black Lives Matter is killing Americans

First, the stats - and they are stunning.

Since the Ferguson chaos, murders in the USA’s 50 largest cities are up close to 17% -- and much higher in cities with large black populations.

In Chicago this year alone, shootings are up around 80%.

Why?  Because the Chicago police have stopped stopping suspicious people.

So-called "pedestrian stops" are down 90% in the Windy City.

When you fail to police pro-actively, people commit more crimes.

The media will not spotlight that much of the violent crime in America is being committed by young black men.

In fact, black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at a rate 10-times higher than white and Hispanic male teenagers combined.

And blacks of all ages commit homicide at a rate eight times higher than whites and Hispanics combined.

Conclusion - there is a violent sub-culture in the African-American community that should be exposed and confronted.

I like how it went from "Thanks to BLM, cops are afraid to do their jobs" to "blacks have a violent subculture"  He even managed to take a swing at Obama in his memo. Talent? Probably not.

I think there is a major problem about this article. It does not give insight on why black teenagers are more likely to commit homocide than others.

That is not true. In fact, the media attention has been higher since the incidents since Black Lives Matter. The article is basically making a statement about why the police should focus on black teenagers, but what it really should say is how society (i.e. schools) can prevent crimes from all human beings.

Bill has plenty of attention already...he's one of the major anchors on Fox News (or was?) with his own segment and force of misguided and misinformed followers. As we speak, thousands are eating this stuff up and agreeing with him...it was trending on Facebook too

It's Bill O'Reilly. He spits out and forward racism and show his ignorance all he wants because people buy it. He didn't (and probably actually doesn't) even believe that black people have a different experience in America (White Privilege versus not having White Privilege) until John Stewart broke it down for him, and even THEN he was reluctant.

He's a mess. The problem is way too complicated to be left up to the ****ing Causation = Correlation fallacy

My first observation; Police shouldn't stop stopping suspicious people in total, they should stop racial profiling and sending black people to jail and harassing them for not actually BEING suspicious in the first place. Suspicious ends up being code for "black male youth", and the history of cops harassing black youths and black people in general because they can get away with it is important to consider when discussing the issue. Ironically "anti-police sentiment" stems from the police being notoriously anti-black. They may not all be shooting black people unarmed in the back, but they are still complicit in the problem by not speaking out about ANY corruption. I could ramble for days about the corruption of police forces in ways that aren't even necessarily related to race, but in general I'm totally here for a revamp of the entire system  

Obviously thats the problem. Statistics like "black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at a rate 10-times higher than white and Hispanic male teenagers combined" do more to frame the issue in an anti-black way than actually inform the public of anything relevant. It's all about honest perspectives and ethical journalism, something media is also WAY too fond of ignoring when they disproportionately focus on black crime

No one is asking the police to be less pro-active about stopping people they believe to be suspicious, but the point is that some of these officers need to realize that being black =/= being suspicious  The colour of someone's skin does not make them more suspicious, their actions do, it really isn't that complicated.

They just have to use some common sense and follow the guidelines of their job. Your power and force as a police officer should be exercised with restraint to cases where it is actually necessary, and not to as an outlet to some internal racism.

Slightly related, Louisiana just signed "Blue Lives Matter" into law making it a hate crime to assault police officers, firefighters, or EMS personnel

Abortion restrictions are being signed into law, 11 states are suing over trans* people's rights to piss in their respective bathrooms, and it seems like a race war is right around the corner as we practically hand the country to a xenophobic lunatic with bad hair and a 2nd grade vocabulary  my country hasn't exactly made me proud lately

if you let up on the people who are statistically more likely to do crime then of course the crime will rise. yeah we know the racism and everything in the past has made the poor communities crime riddled and created a culture more prone to committing crime, but when you want to try to work towards changing the culture well you're going to have to expect this i guess. you might not like it but maybe this is the price you're going to have to pay while we work towards fixing this issue with police and racism. the police will have a period where they lighten up and maybe even out of spite go out of the way to avoid responding to certain areas that they feel do not welcome their presence like those vids of police trying to do their job and a crowd just berates them with insults because they want them gone.

 

i've said it before but will keep saying it. BLM has power right now. power of influence and they are letting it pass them by without using that power where its needed most when it comes to improving the quality of black lives in america.stop the gang wars. police brutality is only one aspect of the problem with poor communities, there are bigger issues that deserve an equal if not more attention if you're going to fix this

The anti-police anti-white theme of the BLM movement has prompted a change in policing procedures in urban low income neighborhoods. 

Racial profiling lead to the harassment and persecution of innocent people simply because the police simply didn't look at potential criminals with anything other than ethnicity guiding them.

Black on Black crime needs to be addressed as the center of the Policing problem imo because there are victims who have no options but to become violent to protect them selves further increasing the problem.

Racial profiling is not effective, Bill O'Reilly. There are statistically SOME benefits but the hatred surrounding this stance is so harmful and there is a reason why people have chosen a system of coexistence throughout time. Racists don't even realize they're racist and it's a damn shame.
