Nope, the discussion was about Sanders' comment, then you introduced the idea that North American Arms Mini-Revolvers have no practical uses (they do). Two separate discussions.

Sanders didn't mention practicality. He mentioned "designed to kill people". Yet curiously, Sanders does not want to ban pistols, even when many are designed for the purpose of shooting people. Therefore, Sanders' statement makes little sense.

Addressing your statement, self-defense is not described as "personal" use, and as far as hunting goes, for 99.9% of the population, there's little need to hunt, so I could switch it and say hunting is "personal", "recreation" or "unnecessary" and that self-defense use is "practical" and "necessary".

Obviously the two overlap somewhat but in the context of guns, personal is to defend yourself and practical is to do things such as hunt, play sports etc. Its 2016. There is no need for the average person in the US to have a gun for personal defence. Sport, hunting etc is understandable. Perhaps our different definitions are due to the fact that words mean different things across cultures.
