Russia & Canada Fight Over North Pole

Russia doesn't open for Gay sauna unlike Canada so my vote is Canada.

But at the end of the day, if scientists cant come up with the proper technicalities, its possible no one will ever get the North Pole. And even if a good enough case is made, the bereaucracy of this stuff is so complex, it would probably take 15-20 years for anyone to get it officially even if they made a good enough case right now

 

Putting aside my hopes that my Country gets it tho, by land extention alone, Greenland deserves it cause they are the closest after all.

Yes! But you are right regarding Denmark they just have it by proxy because Greenland is next door.

Greenland is still under the authority of Denmark, but Denmark doesn't really do anything there, they are sort of autonomous a bit like the Faroe Island. I am not sure of the exact details regarding the precise connection they have. But imagine, if Denmark got that piece, I think Greenland should be the one getting the benefit from it because they have so many problems and no one cares.

Oh ok. Cuz what i thought was that Denmark colonized it or something but then they became independent. I wasnt sure but thats what i thought

 

if they are technically 2 seperate Countries, then Denmarks bid is indeed cringeworthy 

 

If someone gets the whole thing Greenland deserves it for being the closest and for having small population and needing the resources . But they need to apply or they dont stand a chance to get it 

 

Again tho, slicing it like a pie with borders going up like a cone sounds most fair to me

 

But i still hope if anyone gets it, its Canada

Alaska is the reason the US was able to put a bid in it also. America is one of the 5 Nations fighting for it if yoy read the OP

 

But the US (Alaskan portion) geographically speaking is quite a bit further away than Canadas and Russias

 

If there was any ever scientific proof that the North American Continent is somehow connected to North Pole (currently no such proof) Most likely Canadas tip would be the connection not Alaska

 

But until someone actually gets it (if ever), you never know.

Greenland is an autonomous country under Danish jurisdiction.

So that's why Denmark applied.

They are technically still seperate Countries tho. Using same currency and having a technical title doesnt mean anything. Denmarks Government doesnt run Denmarks. I just searched it up after someone made the comment about the two.

 

Canada is still part of commonwealth and Queen Elizabeth is our Queen also. Her face is even on our $20 bills...

 

But you dont see Britain Applying

It's an autonomy under the Kingdom of Denmark.

In 1979, Denmark had granted home rule to Greenland, and in 2008, Greenlanders voted in favour of the Self-Government Act, which transferred more power from the Danish royal government to the local Greenlandic government. Under the new structure, in effect since 21 June 2009, Greenland can gradually assume responsibility for policing, judicial system, company law, accounting, and auditing; mineral resource activities; aviation; law of legal capacity, family law and succession law; aliens and border controls; the working environment; and financial regulation and supervision, while the Danish government retains control of foreign affairs and defense. It also retains control of monetary policy, providing an initial annual subsidy of DKK 3.4 billion, planned to diminish gradually over time as Greenland's economy is strengthened by increased income from the extraction of natural resources.
