So I was sitting in my Organic Chemistry class, like, months ago, and noticed:

Alejandro, at the Monster Ball (women and men dancers)

Alejandro, at the Born This Way Ball (all men dancers)

Alejandro, at the artRave (all women dancers)

What do you think? Where all my meta/analysis peeps at?

Huh. It is interesting. I wonder if the gender makeup of her dancers is supposed to be intentional or mean something? Can't wait to hear how this is interpreted!

MB: the fountain bleeds for you (being freed from gendered expectations = power within) = men & women

BTWB: grinding up old boyfriends (= male power) into a nice spanish couch = men

artRAVE: singing it after MJH, she (by extension, her dancers = female powercould be fine with those old boyfriends (alejandro, roberto, ferando) when being high = women

if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back

Shouldn't you be paying attention in orgo instead? :usrs:

Nah but this is interesting actually! It honestly is a 50/50 on being on purpose or a coincidence

I think the song is about lesbianism and she's basically saying she prefers to "drink from the fountain" (and going to the "fountain of life" in her American Idol and Monster Ball performances was a metaphor for going down on a girl ) because men treat her like a daughter "she's just a baby but her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad" while women love her like a mother/woman. she's been in relationships where she's only received possessive kind of manlove so she embraces her homosexuality to feel equal.

makes sense since she always dedicated it "to the gays in the audience" and there was this one time she said something like "you know what **** it this is dedicated to the lesbians here tonight".

also, in Gypsy she says "honey, it's simple [you love me] the way that you love and treat your mother".

and it was a reference to Hustler magazine's "We will no longer hang women up like pieces of meat" cover which is similar to the statement she made with the meat dress and the gay soldiers.
