    • I think her current success is fine. She's still young, she has long way to go.

    • No, in fact she doesn't deserve any kind of success.

I think shes pretty decently rated if that makes sense. Shes got talent and potential and she makes amazing music. She has arguably one of the best voices if not the among other artists on a similar level to herself, but she doesn't have to belt out a power ballad every second and she and her team have a great ear for good pop music that manages to show off her versatility as a vocalist. I think her amazing vocals give her music an edge up on like, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, etc. (I love both of them, and Miley's actually a great singer too) For example on Dangerous Woman, melodies aside, the HARMONIES on this album are so so so well produced and really add something to the song in every scenario they are utilized in. Having the vocal strength to be able to do your own harmonies with good pitch and no need for excessive autotune makes putting a healthy dose of them not "risky" because there are no vocal flaws to hide :flutter: I hope that made sense :emma: Demi's pretty good in this department too, even if she rarely goes for high notes unless they are screamed out punk-rock style :air:

I honestly think shes on the precipice of something amazing, and I hope her team senses it  Imma need her to help with the production next album. Also, write some songs that aren't necessarily about love  Not that there's anything wrong about that, but like for example, Ariana has had strong feelings about feminism that to me seem more authentic and informed than her peers like, TSwizzle (Sorry :emma: ). She should write about that, or something else that makes her feel strongly in any way. I may seem biased because #feminism is something I study, but I just mean I want her to not feel limited in her writing. There are also ways to write about love songs and give them a personal flare. I feel like people dont find any of Ariana's music has a "signature" sound and its hard to look @ lyrics she has written and say "oh, these are by Ariana Grande" - I want her to stamp her ass all over the next album :crossed:

Anyway, shes still slaying :flutter:

Personally, Ariana is underrated in terms of acclaim and chart success. She's not even much appreciated with her vocal prowess and many people still think that Selena has a better voice.  The 4 octave girl has been serving quality album (and the critics agree - MT score: YT~81, ME~64, DW~77) and she doesn't even have a grammy, at least she got nominated already though. It's not like she's totally flopping commercially but her success on charts aren't even that enormous, not to mention she is yet to get her number 1 and I think she's not getting it anytime soon.

So yeah, i think Ari deserves more. :(

Oh sure. Show me something groundbreaking musically she's done? Show me true original music she's created and written. Iconic imagery.

We also should stop defining success in terms of how many headlines someone grabs. Big deal if Ariana doesn't grab attention for her work. Same with Gaga. As fans of Gaga, or in your case of Ariana, as long as we know they're special and appreciate their music, it's what matters, who cares about trying to persuade everyone else to like them. Some singers and fans are too focused on getting everyone to like them.

You need to re-evaluate your meaning of underrated

Many aspiring artists never get the chance to see the light of day , let alone have 6 Top 10 Billboard hits and over 2 Billion music video views. You have to realize the exposure Ariana has alone, is enough to cement her status as one of the biggest young stars today. The fact that Demi and Selena have been in the business for 10 years almost and still have not gotten a single grammy or a number 1 hit says a lot. No one has ever discredited Ariana's singing abilities , she has always been classified as an A-class vocalist. Be thankful that your fav has even released music (looking at you LG5) and is still relevant going into album 3 (meaning she's no one hit or one album wonder and is here to stay)  and all of that even after her donut and "I hate America" incident. The Gp could have been way harsher to her and send her into oblivion but they did not, in fact they even sent her poorly produced song Focus to the number 7 position on the billboard charts. Many great songs don't even make it into top 40. Oh and her Metacritic scores are better than many others, all pop stars get the same ratings unless your Beyonce or Adele. You also say the octave thing as if it's something all new to be hailed for, Mariah did it first just saying and Ariana still has control issues with her whistle note which she even admits. The point is Ariana is far too young and is in a learning process in her career, she can have a huge era later in her career.

Some people really think Selena's voice is better ? :toofunny:

Look how long it took to Gaga to be recognize, she sure will.  She's far above the new ex-acts (maybe not in sell but in quality).

She has a fairly strong voice, don't think many people really deny that. Her music, imo, isn't on par with her abilities, so no, I don't think she's underrated. She just needs stronger material.

I did not know people thought Selena could sing better than Ariana. In what world?

She is underrated; people know she can sing but she's not acknowledged enough for it. All her albums deserve to be in the 80s with Dangerous Woman in the 90s. Imo she's this generation's Mariah, with less songwriting skills.

Maybe The best singer out of these youngsters and indeed seems acool Girl. I do enjoyed The New album(its nothing ground breaking perhaps, but doesnt even try to be ir need to be). It just seems she's being a bit bullied and down played here by some insecure monsters (as usual for some whos not gaga). I wish her best of future! Shes still very Young :)

Yes, she does have a personality. Her personality traits include being nice, kind, funny and being fierce. She can be a little nervous at times as well. She also stands up for social causes. For example, she's a very proud supporter of animal rights.

I love Ariana she is one of my fav artists I listen to her music alot. I don't think she is underrated though. She is one of the biggest superstars on the planet right now and everyone in the real world seems to know this. She has had hit after hit in the past few years and her image is still as cool as ever!

Success on the charts is not really that important I mean she is getting success on the charts because she is having hit after hit okay she may not be peaking right near the top but so what in the real world people think her music is cool and I hear her out and about all the time. Public perception is much more important than chart stats. If the charts reflected what is cool then Ari would be topping the charts all the time! I don't know anyone offline that thinks selena Gomez can sing better than Ariana Grande!

REALITY

She's got a great voice, and even though I may not like her personally, her music is good. She's still very early in her career, and as of now, I think she's doing fine.

On that same vain though, I think that someone like Miley is actually underrated. She's got a fantastic voice and I think that people are too caught up with the whole "Hannah Montana" thing to see that. People just see her extravagant outfits, different hairstyle, and overall just openness and dismiss her.

Although I always wish for my favorites to be as successful as possible, I think Ari is doing fairly well. Her album is expected to sell a reasonable amount (considering how huge streaming has become), she already has scored a top 10 hit with this album which is pretty good if you ask me, and I doubt anyone would call her untalented (if they did, they'd be deluded). In my opinion, Ariana is one of the greatest artists of this generation. Her music always sounds fresh and exciting (minus Focus) and as long as critics agree (even though My Everything deserved higher), I think her career will turn out just fine. As long as I have new music to listen to, I couldn't care less about how she does commercially.
