It actually looks really funny and cute.

The men on YouTube are just hating on it because they think the old movies are better and that the cast is all women imo.

Saying the movie's quality is the sole responsible for the backlash is bullshit... I mean I've literally never seen such hatred towards a film like this before. It doesn't look any worse than any other film, and I actually like what I'm seeing so far.

I think this is a mix of sexism, purists going nuts and bandwagoning.

Why don't the trailers for all of the other horrible Hollywood remakes get disliked so bad? If this was all men I can guarantee everyone would be hyped and not slating it. Also its a light hearted fluffy comedy about ghoulies why is everyone treating it like it's Metropolis or Citizen Kane.

they would 100% be slating it if it was a male cast, everyone hates when classics get remade

I totally agree. This looks average, but it is nowhere that bad.

Yeah me included, but why is no one up in arms about Jurassic World, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Terminator. Why this film?

There are few things that sexist hate more than female comedians.

cus they're not remakes, they're sequels (mostly) :awkney: plus i did see a lot of JW hate but only cus the second and third film butchered the franchise

Idk why people hate this so much, the movie looks good. Compared to the original? Idk, and that might be where the hate is coming from, but I like this.

I'll defend the decision to reboot it starring a cast of females (seriously what the **** is the big deal? it's not an agenda, it's just a mother****ing cast of chicks), but the movie itself does look pretty ****.

I don't mind that they remade it with women at all - female scientists being the main characters? Heck yes! But I really dislike how they handled the black character... Winston wasn't a dumbass in the Ghostbusters movies. He was an average but competent guy who was supposed to be a stand-in for the audience. The black character in this movie is an outrageous sassy fool (and also randomly religious - Winston made like one reference to religion in GB1) but "street-smart" - what an original and totally not racist characterization for a black woman. Winston was originally supposed to have a much more expansive backstory in GB and was totally overqualified for the job - why couldn't they have done that for her here? Why did they make her like every other "sassy black woman" character in every movie?

Not to mention I find the comedy really bad... I just didn't find it funny at all. The humor was very over the top and not my style. The original GB seemed to have a dryer sense of humor. (GB2 was also kind of lame, but for different reasons) I also don't like how it's a reboot, so the original GB were basically wiped out of the continuity... I understand Harold Ramis passed away, so they didn't really want to do anything without Egon, but they didn't have to go all the way and pretend the original GB never happened. This was originally supposed to be Ghostbusters 3, not a reboot, so this wasn't always the plan. Reboots that erase prior events really piss off purists in comparison to just making a sequel.

There are definitely a lot of misogynist nerds being angry about this movie, but that doesn't change that the movie does look kinda crap and also fails at being a good intersectional feminist movie. Feminism isn't just about white women... it's ridiculous that a movie made in the 80s has a more progressive black character (and Winston was really not all that progressive) than a remake of that same movie in the supposedly enlightened 2010s. They had a wonderful opportunity with a black female Ghostbuster... and they totally squandered it in favor of the same old archetypes about black women. Disappointing.

There's nothing wrong with a film having a feminist agenda if it's well done. This not only looks like complete **** but they actually added elements of racism and stereotyping that weren't present in the original, in which the black Ghostbuster was a smart scientist like the others, but here she's a dumb, god-fearing hood rat :rip:. SJW's are so often the biggest hypocrites.

Who's the SJW in this situation?
