Donald Trump has now grown his lead over Hillary Clinton in Rasmussen Reports’ first weekly White House Watch survey.

Trump earns 42% support to Clinton’s 37% when Likely U.S. Voters are asked whom they would vote for if the presidential election were held today. But Rasmussen Reports’ latest national telephone survey finds that 13% prefer some other candidate, while seven percent (7%) are undecided. 

Rasmussen Reports will update the Clinton-Trump White House Watch matchup numbers every Thursday morning from now until Election Day in November.

It has happened in almost every single Western country I can think of. I can only think of Spain that doesn't have a major right-populist party (though they have seperatist/nationalist and left-populist parties). Germany was for a long time the country where post-WW 2 guilt was too big for a far-right party to become big, but that changed this year with the AfD. Other parties like the Front Nationale, Swedish Democrats, True Finns, FPÖ, Golden Dawn and Independent Greeks (this party is part of a government actually), Law and Justice (this one-party government in Poland led the country to a constitutional crisis), PVV, Vlaams Belang not to mention the move towards autocracy in Turkey and Russia. The world is a scary place.

You should look up the Austrian presidential elections happening in a few days, that's actually the best example I can think of.

People are sick of the left being irresponsible in spending and constantly promising positive change with little to no results. The economy has technically gone "back to pre-2008 levels" but anyone who has taken an introductory class on economics can understand how those numbers are fudged in alot of ways by the Feds. The economy of the world itself has even plateaued. Good paying jobs with full benefits have been replaced with low paying jobs with no benefits. The money in the U.S. lies in the hands of the powerful because Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton have for 25 years failed to deliver economic principles that protected the middle class, rather, they have protected the wealth for the few. 

That's why the backlash is happening on both sides of the aisle....and I think alot of Clinton supporters don't realize their sinking ship at the end of the day is her last name. It will backfire on her. The states up for grabs this election with independent voters are mostly rust belt states, and ultimately the idea of another Clinton is a deep seeded fear among blue collar industrial workers. They remember NAFTA and how it impacted that region so harshly the past two decades, leaving millions without jobs. At the end of the day, alot of these don't even like Trump but will swing his way because he represents money and power....something that region has lost on a level that's really emotional for millions of Midwest families. Look at Detroit: in 1970 it had a population of over 2 million, was home to the biggest car companies in the world, and was the richest city per capita in the world. Now, Detroit has a dwindling population under 600,000 (70% population decrease), a broken auto and manufacturing industry, horrible dirty unkept neighborhoods, and hundreds of thousands of empty foreclosed homes. And similar situations have happened in Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Cedar Rapids, St. Louis, Dayton, Flint, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown, Huntington, Louisville, and Cincinnati. All cities from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, West Virginia. All states that are vital and up for grabs. 

Who do you think those blue collar people are gonna side with ultimately? Especially when Hillary is saying her intentions are to shut down the coal industry that keeps these states afloat? 

Those states will likely swing for Trump. Like it or not, putting food on the table is more important than social issues to people in these states. I'm just stating the reality of it.

I don't like that you're right, but you are. Thing is, the DNC hasn't been a progressive party since before Bill Clinton, so I don't know if "promising" is the right word. Still, people are upset.

Honestly, if if Teflon Don (Trump) doesn't say a peep about race from here on out, he will win in a landslide. The old comments will become old news to alot of Midwest people. They will focus on what's more important: whether a transgender can use a bathroom, or whether my kids will have food and the image of a brighter "American Dream", and rust belt folks will associate the latter with Trump more than Hillary any day. It's a deep rooted angst towards the Clintons.

The funny, if not hilarious thing is people ACTUALLY believing Trump will be any different than the previous few president!!!  He is all over the place on what he believes, or doesn't believe at the moment.  He has almost flip flopped more than John Kerry & Mitt Romney combined, in just a couple of damn weeks!!  Smh 

Clinton is by no means the perfect candidate, but she is 1,000 times better than CHUMP!  I'd rather have a "corrupt" politician who knows what the hell they are doing, than an overgrown bafoon who ultimately thinks the White House is another reality show where he can just fire people at will!

As much as he may be making inroads into the working class and rust belt states, he is also galvanizing every f-ing group he has so demonstrably demonized & offended...!  1,000s & 1,000s of new(Hispanic voters) registering just for the SOLE purpose of taking him downnnnn in November!  So that's why you cannot go by these polls right now at the moment…  Because not only have the debates not even happened yet, Hillary has not even wrapped up the nomination on the Democratic side yet!   And like I said these polls do not take into account all of those factors, including all of the new voters who are registering now to be able to vote come November...

So we will TRULY see come Election Day how this all turns out!  I think the ONLY thing that would probably insure he wins the White House is if there is another MAJOR terrorist attack on this country from now until then...!   And even then it may not necessarily be in the bag for him, because everyone knows Hillary is a hawk when it comes to foreign policy…  And even though that was a negative for her in the Democratic primary, that may be a positive for her in the general election considering all of the terrorism we are experiencing nowadays.

And yes, "it" does happen. Poland and PiS, for example. Austria and the Freedom Party. In fact far-right parties are surging all across Europe.

That being said, I don't think Trump is comparable to any of those, and certainly not far-right.

Why should they be voting against him? His comments were about illegal immigrants. If they're here illegally, they can't vote. If they're naturalized citizens, then they shouldn't take offense because he wasn't talking about them. Trump loves Hispanics, and the best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill.
