it really is concerning this phenomenon of people doing this. it's like they are voting (not for the policy) but just to bring down the establishment in some way. i can understand their frustration with the corruption of US politics, but have they even thought about the words that have come out of DT's mouth? i mean, i don't understand the rationale, here. he has painted himself in such an irreparably terrible way with his talks on policy in my opinion (esp. foreign policy), that you have to not be thinking critically about the things he says to vote for the guy.

I actually want US politics to shift, but this is literally the worst time to pull these tantrums. The momentum birthed by Sanders' candidacy should not be squandered through giving up, but should be fostered and nurtured for when the right time comes, as early as four years from now.

No it has to be NOW because they didn't get their way.

Most independents, despite their names, still align with a party and will vote for Republican or Democrat when the time comes.

That's the two party establishment keeping them down :grr: fight the machine! :grr:

she is basically (in terms of policy) the pragmatic version of bernie.

I was watching a Young Turks video a while ago (I know, cringe :green:) and they kind of spoke about this. They were talking about why Obama (seemingly) supports Hillary over Bernie. Excuse their liberal rage but I thought it was at least a little interesting

Spoiler

Honestly, at this point, I still like Bernie more but Hillary will more than likely be the most effective. Bernie would be fighting an uphill battle and may not be willing to compromise on some things which, though it sounds great in theory, could put everything into a standstill. I'm convinced at this point that Trump will be nothing more than a figurehead for the GOP nuts that'll have to hold his hand and pull his strings through his entire presidency and that's no good. Hill-dawg will basically be "Obama 2.0" (but even more to the left) and look at all he managed to do even when half the government did everything they could to stand in his way. They mass produced things like bumper stickers that say "One Big Ass Mistake America" :toofunny: seriously :smh:

Trump is helping them never get deported by making sure all of them arrive legally in the first place. Based Donald. :gaycat:

Trump will never build that wall and never deport eleven million people. That's even crazier than believing that state colleges are going to become free. Both are "promises" made by Demagogues to rile people up and get votes.

To be fair, this needs to happen. One semester (four classes) at a community college turned state college costed me $8,000...Idk, I think that's ridiculous :air:

Spoiler

Of course I had a scholarship and financial aid to help but that price tag is still ridiculous. Not to mention student debt crushing people for their entire lives. That's one of the things that turned me onto the Bernster in the first place :usrs:

I want to go to college :koons:

I mean, I don't know why some of these policies seem so unrealistic when it's already becoming a norm in the industrialized world.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Because Hillary will keep giving more power to the big corporations that screw people over.

Big corporations, like the ones that Trump runs? Funny since Trumps tax plan heavily benefits billionaires while Hillarys does not. Crazy things happen when you look at the issues.

Why does Hillary start every campaign as the most qualified, almost certain nominee and then get rejected by the party? Obama was a nobody and managed to beat her, and now Bernie is within a whisker of wiping her out, the establishment is what's just keeping her in it. Face it, she's not what people want.

lmao. Bernie needs 101% of the delegates to get the nomination. IT'S OVER. Face it, HE'S not what people want.

Hillary will tell whoever she needs at that moment what they want to hear. It's no indication of how she will govern.

They're not unrealistic on an individual basis.

The aggregate is however, and countries that have gone out of their way to establish heavily socialistic systems without the proper base are beginning to fall apart, such as Sweden.

Also trying to compare other countries to the USA by simply collectivizing them as "industrial world" glaringly ignores the context, most notably the difference in cultures. Also you do realize that those countries embrace free trade deals and for-profit education right? There's a fundamental difference in how their economics work as well.

The USA needs to fundamentally change its social and economic culture before trying to bring socialism so heavily into it.

The USA has a much larger population and income disparity. Denmark, one of those countries, has the highest tax pressure in the world, and it will inevitably leak to the middle class to continue to fund these programs since SOMEONE has got to pay for them. The difference here is that most of Denmark falls under "middle class" here so they all get hit equally. Do you think that's going to happen the same way in the USA? Clearly middle class and above are going to get hit disproportionately harder.

The USA has a consumerist culture, and what many fail to understand is the more you receive from the government, the less leeway you have as a private citizen. You cannot, for example, change majors when you go to college and must be accepted for your degree before applying anywhere. You also have to maintain high GPAs, not always possible for everyone. In matters other than education, more taxes = less expendable income.

The USA has a much higher poverty level than most of those countries for many reasons such as immigration. A social welfare society that wants to embrace and benefit from some form of real capitalism in the long run will need to: set very stringent parameters for the amount of welfare available to its citizens as a percentage of GDP

The USA's business model is vastly different with entrepreneurship and private companies being the soul of its capitalist nature. There's a reason the USA has contributed the most to societal and technological advances in the last century. Increasing amounts of regulations continue to come down the pipeline, making it harder for entrepreneurs and small businesses to create value.

The USA has the matter of states rights unlike those countries.

etc...

The best that can be done barring a third World War in the USA is to inch forward one matter at a time, and even then remain cautious. This is similar to what Obama and Hillary have done with regards to universal healthcare.

One step at a time.

Your response has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.  It's almost funny cause I ended my post with "Crazy things happen when you look at the issues" and you've done the opposite.  She proposed a tax plan just like Trump and Sanders.  Let's focus on the issues here and not fetishize and sensationalize everything about our candidates.
