Bear 7,515
I think it'd be a stretch if I said I support leather/fur usage, it's not something I'd use personally, but I'm certainly not against it. It would be hypocritical of me as a meat-eater to do so; meat is a luxury and convenience we consume because we enjoy it, but it's not necessary for survival (as vegetarians and vegans prove). The same is true for fur and leather, and I find it strange how some people can be so against fur and leather and not meat. I don't value animals as highly as humans (clearly if I eat them), but I do think all animals should have a certain standard of living free from suffering, no matter if the trade is meat, fur, leather .etc. Therefore, a more reasonable approach would be to regulate responsible fur and leather farming. Three questions to ask every time an animal is killed: Is it responsible?, is it sustainable? and is it ethical? If all three criteria is met, I don't see a problem with it personally. I like the advert though. If you can't handle that leather came from something living, then you shouldn't be buying it.

No what I am saying is that humans did not know that back then. It just so happened that the consumption of meat in prehistoric times happen to evolve our brains forward... Of course we can seek protein from other sources now, with the knowledge we have nowadays. But humans have been eating meat for millions of years now(as pre-humans), and just telling them to give it up in a whim or cold turkey is just a fantasy!!! The best you can hope for is to try and get people to reduce their meat consumption over time & incrementally... And not just ALL completely at once like PETA would have it! Smh Egypt. I've been vegan for years now and the only supplement I take is B-12, I get my blood tested regularly and I haven't had a single problem. ALGAYDO 35,135
I ****ing hate the leather/fur industry so damn much. They're literally torturing animals for the sake of some rich, pretentious people being able to show off their luxury. And I can't at some people thinking that vegetarians/vegans conveying why animal cruelty is bad is the same as them "pushing" their ideals on others Like, if you're okay with all of the **** that's going on, that's fine, we're all human and we each have our own perspectives on life. Some people just can't afford to go vegetarian/vegan, some can but choose not to because of other personal reasons. But don't stay ignorant on the matter. That's the worst. Also, you don't have to be a vegetarian/vegan to boycot the meat industry. There's plenty of companies that treat and harvest their animals humanly

Chimps are 95% vegetarian, and the protein that they get is mostly from bugs. And almost every culture eats meat because its cultural lol. It's a learned behavior, just like how some cultures eat cats and dogs, and others are horrified at the thought of a cow being on a dinner plate. I'm a meat eater, but I'm aware of what I buy and I know exactly where my meat comes from and I know how the animals are kept. The problem is when people don't associate the act of eating meat with the animals they come from; it's this blind eye that often allows the worst cases of animal cruelty in the trade.
