hoodrat 299 Posted May 10, 2016 Share Posted May 10, 2016 You can't really compare Metacritic scores like this unless the reviews are from the exact same publications by the exact same reviewer, and have the exact same number of reviews. Let's be real, more eligible publications were more likely to review Born This Way (when Gaga was at the height of her mainstream fame) than last year with Carly Rae Jepson's Emotion. And more publications were going to review Gaga more closely/harshly since she is a bigger star with albums that have more than just "~pop perfection~" to talk about. People hold Gaga to a higher standard, and that was incredibly apparent when ARTPOP was released. Most serious music critics are probably pleasantly surprised some of the other "pop girls" can even put together an album in the first place and give them credit just for that... Since Gaga is Gaga and she blew up SO big that now everyone is just not satisfied no matter how good it is. It's not fair for Gaga and u would think that the fans have the high standards.
