( And wasn't it pessimistic to think that the girl was wrongly accusing them when she wasn't? Where's the optimism in that?) Besides, in some situations you need to be realistic, especially when the victim of a situation needs your support. This just like what Gaga said about rape culture. The girl wouldn't make a big deal about it if she knew it was an innocent mistake, obviously she took the way she's treated in school into account or at least what the other students think of her when she went to the board about it.
