Eh it's less about having a man in the sky and more about the belief in something greater than yourself. It's more about spirituality than religion,

You're right that religion itself is a construct and, like any human construct, can be easily abused to serve the whims of its leaders.

This particular instance is nothing more than perpetuating a bigoted viewpoint by abusing people's faiths.

Lol I love how the examples are completely different and have nothing to do with it

"Just like when you want to go on a plane and you cant bring stuff not allowed with you" ??? How is that even remotely close to marriage

Actually, that made perfect sense in the videos context. They're basically saying that just like you can't get on a plane with certain items, you can't get resurrected to paradise without following Jehovah's rules. One of which being that marriage is between a man and a woman. Basically, for people who are married to someone of the same sex, they wouldn't be admitted to paradise like how someone with gun can't go on a plane.

This is why I never open the door for them when they ring the doorbell.

And if I do, I slam the door at their faces.

I like to open the door and listen to them for a while and then just start to lmao and slam the door. :gaycat:

i grew up with a jehovah's witnesses family, i even got baptized but i always knew i was gay y my mom knew it too since forever i'm no longer part of that religion but my parents still love me...i know they don't really mean to hurt people by doing this...that's what they really believe in their hearts so i respect their position because they respect mine at least my family...

They certainly do everything they believe is right that much i can say...

All i say is that people can believe in whatever they want as long as u dont force it on anyone.

Witnesses usually are not forceful at the doors (unlike sales people) which i can respect

Also Witnesses treat homosexuals far nicer than in other religions. My JW co-worker and boss have explained that they view it as a part of imperfection and that everyone will struggle with one wrong desire or another and that homosexuality is just one of many

i respect that they dont single out that particular issue because when religions single it out and make it sound worse than every other "sin" then i really get mad

Religion was created as a tool to control man, by man. It as absolutely astonishing that people in the year 2016 no not think it is utterly absurd that most people on earth believe there is a magical invisible man that sits on top of the clouds and grants you enteral happiness and paradise as long as you don't f*ck another dude.

The idea of "faith" is silly. If you actually think about it, you have to come to the conclusion that the belief in a god is just bizarre. Like if someone today were to say they were the son on God, everyone would ridicule them and cast them away. Yet for some reason, because Jesus Christ lived so long ago, people think he was legitimately the son of God. It makes no damn sense.

It no longer has a place in this world. It is just a tool for divisiveness and provides a breeding ground of hatred, radicalism, and violence.

I don't care if you're rude to me. I don't care if I come off as rude either. But I sure will speak my mind and you can have some faith in that.

Wow okay seriously that's so rude and mean for no reason. And if you think that's religion you have it all wrong, this is not religion, this is superstition.

And why should I believe you when you say that religion was created by man as a tool to control man?

Has it ever occured to you that you may be wrong. Don't be so sure cause in life nothing is 100% sure.

And you also have a wrong image of who God is, it's not a man or a woman, it's beyond our imagination but just because you can't imagine it doesn't mean it can't exist. 100 years ago could people believe that European countries will have almost all the same money and be in a European Union? No of course they couldn't imagine it, but it happened.

It's just an example. God loves us, I believe in God but I don't believe in heaven nor hell, cause if I created something I won't want it to burn in hell.

Religion and faith and the belief in a higher power are the source of strength and courage for many people, it offers them comfort when the world is in immense chaos, it offers them hope that every thing happens for a reason and that everything will work out in the end because of that higher power.

People like you who expect concrete evidence of the existence of a god or spiritual entity or the afterlife are very smallminded and it's actually people like you who cause divisiveness, actually I shouldn't say "people like you", I should say, opinions like yours.. Religion is about so much more than "an invisible man in the clouds" and going to heaven if "you don't f+ck a dude", the whole thing about sexuality is one small part of the bible hateful people focus on to condemn homosexuality; there is so much more to the bible than that and you come off as sounding very very uneducated on the topic of religion and spirituality and a higher power guiding humanity.

Atheism is sad because they spend some time dragging religion and not doing something for the world. Religion does good things too. Just don't be disrespectful.
