Look up her cover of Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box and check out her hold that long note live. She can do extended semi-operatic notes too. She's got a good voice when she performs for her fans. And I really wouldn't call the lyrics from Off To The Race, Gods And Monsters, West Coast and Honeymoon to be "the pits." She's one of the best songwriters around.

If you think she's one of the best songwriters around you clearly havent heard much music these days lol

The tastes of the public really baffle me. This is mediocre at best and sounds like the equally mediocre Can't Feel My Face. Why do people like this dull, bland, cheesy music? And more to the point, why would they actually want to dance to it? There's no story here, nothing exciting, it doesn't go anywhere, just mindless banality from start to finish.

It blows my mind how there are female artists coming out with masterpieces that can't crack the top ten and yet, a male artist makes a forgettable song in which he doesn't even need to try, he could have written in his sleep. And it becomes a big hit. How do male artists get away with releasing such s****y material? And actually get hits with it? HOW?!

Music does not need to tell a story for it to be exciting. Justin Timberlake is a flawless artist, he's so underrated. This song is pure fun - he's reached a point in his career where he is able to release anything he wants. I watched an interview of his a while ago where he said he has something like 800 songs complete that he'll never release - some personal, some not. It fascinates me how we hear and consume so little of what these artists create.

I think this song is instantly relatable, likeable and uplifting - it has a funky beat. It's easy listening. The chorus is fun. The higher vocals where he sings 'can't stop the feeling' are an ear-worm. I wouldn't call this song 'sh*tty'. :toofunny: Its production is fabulous and clean. People respect and like JT. His music is always high in quality. Always. There's not an abundance JT music either, which is why he earns himself hits with every release. He doesn't need to hype his work. A few weeks of small teases and he drops his product to success.

I'm an amateur music reviewer who listens to over 100 albums a year. Lana is one of the very few who can make a perfect album these days. Most artists just knock the ball out the park with 2/3 quality singles and half ass the rest of the album, but Lana makes her entire body of work a masterpiece.

I didn't say it had to tell a story, but it really helps. I don't think Justin's underrated - all his albums have been hits, as have his tours and he's got credibility from critics. He's a good artist in general, but he sometimes makes a misstep, case in point, this song.

I can't find such a bland beat uplifting. Blandness is on par with sh*ttiness in my view. That's why I can review an album and every song is rated a 2/5 but I'll end up deciding on a 1/5 as the final score. Bland and unforgettable is an even bigger crime than being outright bad sometimes, as the worst thing music can make you feel is nothing at all.

No. Like I said, personal opinion. Lana's indepth descriptions and many versed lyrics are so rare these days.

Not all of that music appeals to  me, though. Non mainstream doesn't always automatically mean good - too much pretension and stuff that's too hard to decipher what's being sung about. Lana is considered non mainstream by many too.
