We have our own share of problems. Don't downplay how much we suffer by framing us in the same perspective as Americans. I don't do it to Americans when discussing your politics and society, especially now that I live here and have both perspectives in my sights. There is no such thing as "White-privilege" there. Don't try it. Over there we fight over religion not race. Also you've got to be kidding if you're saying that Middle Easterners don't have their own problems in the USA. I've almost been turned back at the border twice after returning from a trip to Lebanon for Christmas. I'm glad I live in Boston. There are places in the USA I can't even go without being accused of a terrorist. Once I passed by Charlotte and I got weird looks from people cause I had a light beard I mean, I should have specified that I was talking about how race is perceived in America, so I apologize for that, but we are talking about American politics. Also, I never said Middle Easteners don't have their problem ins the US??? Please quote me where I said that, cause what I said was to not insinuate that they suffer more than black or latinx people. The intent of the law was to discourage crimes. It made crime look less appealing by making the punishment bigger. Apparently Americans don't care about the law. So it's black people's fault that there is mass incarceration????????? You know, your point makes no sense when the majority of people in jail for non-violent drug offenses are BLACK yet the majority of drug abusers in all major drugs but crack cocaine (which was pushed into ghettos by the U.S. government) are WHITE. The problem with mass incarceration isn't necessarily that there are more people in jail, it's that the majority of the people are there for non-violent offenses and most of them are black, which is disproportionate to the real crime population. Because of the effects from Bill Clinton & Al Gore moving the Democratic party to the right. They called themselves the "New Democrats" which meant they were Neo-Liberalist, and they looked up to the White Collar class instead of the Blue Collar working class. Once Bill Clinton & Al Gore were able to push their agenda, it forced the GOP to move even more to the right, and lobby with the more conservative Tea Party movement. Once Bill was in office he introduced the Crime Bill, Welfare Reform, and the deregulation of Wall-Street..Which also lead to our housing collapse, and our last recession. None of those bills would have passed... if he had an (R) in front of his name. But because of the efforts of the new faux Democratic Party they were able to be passed. Hillary Clinton is the standing symbol for the "New Democrats." Which in my opinion has ruined the Democratic Party/DNC... She is for interventionist wars, deregulating, and pro corporations. She may now share some progressive social ideals that look great from the outside, but her past proves everything you say wrong. For instance those crime bills targeted non violent black men for petty crimes like drugs. She called black men & teenagers "Super Predators." What??? Neo-liberalism is the polar opposite of socialism and is definitely not what Hillary has been doing her entire career. What even? Going to copy paste a literal definition of what constitutes neoliberalism so there is absolutely no confusion: The main points of neo-liberalism include: THE RULE OF THE MARKET. Liberating "free" enterprise or private enterprise from any bonds imposed by the government (the state) no matter how much social damage this causes. Greater openness to international trade and investment, as in NAFTA. Reduce wages by de-unionizing workers and eliminating workers' rights that had been won over many years of struggle. No more price controls. All in all, total freedom of movement for capital, goods and services. To convince us this is good for us, they say "an unregulated market is the best way to increase economic growth, which will ultimately benefit everyone." It's like Reagan's "supply-side" and "trickle-down" economics -- but somehow the wealth didn't trickle down very much. CUTTING PUBLIC EXPENDITURE FOR SOCIAL SERVICES like education and health care and even maintenance of roads, bridges, water supply -- again in the name of reducing government's role. Of course, they don't oppose government subsidies and tax benefits for business. REDUCING THE SAFETY-NET FOR THE POOR, DEREGULATION. Reduce government regulation of everything that could diminsh profits, including protecting the environmentand safety on the job PRIVATIZATION. Sell state-owned enterprises, goods and services to private investors. This includes banks, key industries, railroads, toll highways, electricity, schools, hospitals and even fresh water. Although usually done in the name of greater efficiency, which is often needed, privatization has mainly had the effect of concentrating wealth even more in a few hands and making the public pay even more for its needs. ELIMINATING THE CONCEPT OF "THE PUBLIC GOOD" or "COMMUNITY" and replacing it with "individual responsibility." Pressuring the poorest people in a society to find solutions to their lack of health care, education and social security all by themselves -- then blaming them, if they fail, as "lazy." ---- So she once supported free trade supports some deregulation of economy so suddenly she's neoliberal? Don't toss around words when you don't understand the context. Even Sanders has voted for some measure of deregulation and Clinton rightly pointed it out to him. Of course he ended up saying he regretted it and switched the topic immediately. Everything else literally falls flat. What the ... The Crime Bill was also voted for by many progressives. I don't even? Why are you bringing it up against her? You're also throwing around the superpredator word as if it means anything out of context? Even black people approved of that bill. The biggest danger African Americans faced was other African Americans. We're talking about gang warfare and people who preyed on their own people. She never ever framed it as black people preying on white people. Way to take it out of context and try to imply racism. Edited just now by LebaneseDude. Check Mark Hawkish Behavior? Check Mark Sanders had to push her to discuss lifting the cap on social security.. Because it's a well known fact hat Bill Clinton & Obama have pushed for privatizing it. What are you trying to prove. Welfare shouldn't be reformed? She never has said anything about deregulating Wall St. She's taken some measures that were deemed necessary even by Sanders himself. The Crime Bill was a progressive failure. Don't pin it on her. Trade Agreements are normal in any political process. Pardon her for trying to stimulate the failing economy She's already apologized for it. Like honestly. Even those free trade deals had their benefits. Retrospect is really powerful in shaping your viewpoint on intent right? **** they turned out to be not as good for the economy as she thought. That happens when you actively participate in politics. Like what the **** has Jill Stein contributed to the American population? She has beautiful stances but has never actually exhibited any form of competency in implementing them. I'm sure she's smart but how is that proof of qualification? Not one elected office? Not a single one. Once she does you'll realize **** doesn't always work out as you plan because plans always get derailed. What are you supposed to imply by hawkish behavior? That she cares about American interests? I'm sorry you're taking random talking points, taking them out of context, ignoring the massive disparity between the times, and dissing her character all in an attempt to paint her as some neo-liberal. Edit: Sorry if I come off aggro. This bashing of Hillary when all the proper information is available has got to stop. I'm not even from the USA and have researched everything on my own. Perhaps that's why I have such a different perspective from some of you. I didn't get brainwashed by the GOP. Edited just now by LebaneseDude. What I said was: "Being a white ethnic, ESPECIALLY if you're white passing like in those pictures, doesn't change the fact that you still get privileges for looking white. Don't try to insinuate that you suffer more than black people or dark skinned lantinx people" Where did I say that we don't face the same troubles? Obviously racism is widespread, but my experience with racism is not the same as yours, and our experience with it is not the same as, say, an asian person. Also, I never said it was about how much. I said verbatim "Don't try to insinuate that you suffer more than black people or dark skinned lantinx people". That doesn't mean we suffer more and we should be a priority (albeit black history in the U.S. is by far more deeply rooted and much more problematic than any other race), it just means don't make it oppression Olympics. The point is that she's calling people who enforce black stereotypes "well-meaning, open minded white people". When are they gonna be well meaning and open minded when they **** themselves at the sight of a black person? White people make black seem so scary that when I look at myself in the mirror I'm afraid. A twinge of fear =/= shitting oneself I took the statement to mean that many white people (those that respect all people and want equality for all) still have to continue to confront the fact that they might have some ingrained thoughts that surprise them from time to time...ones they need to confront. What is wrong with taking an honest look at your inner most thoughts and challenging yourself to be a better person?
