Maybe they flopped because there's was NO PROMO. Streaming is the future of music. She's already co-writing her next album (3 songs have been newly registered to her BMI) and she said she'll never make her fans wait that long again during the AWT. Love on the Brain, Higher, Concideration and others are totally geared for young people. Doesn't Gaga make music mostly for young people and when was her last hit? Seethe. Isn't it boring and safe, just asking the same people who gave you success, over and over? Well, songs that haven't had any promo have smashed before, so there's that idea out the window. I mean, this song is already #1 on itunes, so there you go - no promo, but it sells because of who's on it. A feature does wonders for a song's sales. KIB and NM don't have features - if they did, it might have been a different story. She says an album will come sooner next time but if it's anything like the beginning of Anti and the first few singles don't take off, she might chicken out and start over again, taking up more time. Actually, those songs are totally made for music critics, the older market and people who just take music seriously. I like Love On The Brain and Higher. They're definitely not geared for dumb kids - they wouldn't understand their brilliance. Yes, Gaga can make music for young people too but her music is more timeless and meant for everyone (The Edge of Glory) and she does aim for older markets (You and I and C2C). Gaga doesn't just aim for the youth market and that's smart - it means that the current generation won't dump her when she goes out of fashion, like what Rihanna's currently going through. I never said it wasn't boring or safe for Calvin to ask her. His reason was obvious. TIWYCF, but Taylor Swift retweeted it and we all know how much power she has in the industry, and it's been playing on the radio non stop where I live. I am pretty sure she didn't include the 3 singles because they were a year old or because Kanye was supposed to be the Executive Producer. FFS and BBHMM wasn't really a flop and AO was obviously going to fail and songs like Love on the Brain, Higher, Pose, Kiss It Better, Goodnight Gotham (the original) were all made in 2014. If your taking a leap of faith with your 11 year old carrier wouldn't you have some doubts? I would. She was told to take a break by Jay-Z and Ne-Yo, she even said she was taking a small break ANTi was probably planned for 2014. I don't think she'd make her own record label for nothing (she owns Westbury Road made in 2014). I'm pretty sure C2C was for the critic after she got dumped on and had a mini breakdown during the ARTPOP era. We're derailing this thread, so I'm gonna stop. You have your opinions and I have mines. Finally feeling free for the night, I got no worries. Finally got a claim on my life, baby, c'est la vie. ☄️

Joshie 748
Nothing pisses me off more than people thinking they're some sort of supreme alternative bitch because they deem a song basic so everyone's gonna love it. Youll grow out of that phase sweetie, and realise you don't have to try to be different to be cool. It's smashing because it's a good song. End of story. I don't think I'm a "supreme alternative bitch," I actually hate people like that. I'm always criticising hipsters and music snobs. I don't think music's good just because it's alternative, nor to do I think that something is bad just because it's mainstream. There's good and bad alternative, good and bad mainstream. I'm just realistic about things, that's all. I don't think I'll grow out of this "phase." I'm not a teenager who's just discovered music, I'm 26 and I've been reviewing over 100 albums a year for nearly 4 years now. And like I said, I'm not trying to be different or cool, just realistic. It's not good to be pretentious and it's not good to be a sheep. I exist in the place in between. It's smashing because it's Calvin Harris. Every lead single he puts out smashes, no matter how bad it is. He's always so lucky with his release dates - there's hardly ever something that provides a challenge. I think the public are also desperate for something new as its been the same songs hovering in the top 10 for weeks.
