i think at times her art is quite exceptional.

my fave examples are the ARTPOP film she did with inez and vinoodh, just so minimal, precise, but it still had its little details, it was diverse yet had a clear vision, and you cant wrong with inez and vinoodh, theyre so good at what they do. down to the lighting, the composition, it takes effort to make what they make.

i loved her grammys performance of born this way, just everything leading up to it, being in the vessel for days, the little touch of afterbirth pink in her hair, this sort of 80s space age theme she had when she first started the era, it was a well sculpted idea up until she abandoned it throughout promoting the record. even the prosthetics she had on her face, they where repeated down to her flesh colored shoes, her nails where tripled, she was doing like double sets of bangs, it all tied into this metaphor of being alien esque, but it wasn't so loud and obvious.

i think the g.u.y video had some really pretty moments, they just weren't executed as well as they could've been, and some ideas didnt tie into each other. for example, the way the beginning looks like it was all filmed in a late afternoon. it just wasn't effective, it looked home made for being at such an iconic landmark. gaga doesnt use cheap props, nor do they usually look cheap, but film it wrong, put it in the wrong context and it could. i did love the little paper animal costumes, like the bear, the models dressed up as the grapes, and flower dresses, it was very transcendentalist, about being one with nature, being a muse. where she went wrong is putting the housewives in there. i think she just wanted to get a rise out of having such ridiculous pop culture "figures" in her video but didnt come up with a valid reason til later. it was very convoluted and if the idea doesnt even come across to her own fans, let alone the objective audience, then its not a good idea. being tricky isnt the same as being clever with your art.

my friend constantly talks about how shes such a "choir" teacher she is about her ideas-campy, cheesy, and unnecessary. par example, "well, i live for your applause, shall we make our way to oz?" its just very......why??? its sometimes cringe worthy to watch.

Art is subjective. Art is when a person expresses their feelings or opinions in a certain way using a variety of mediums (fashion, music, acting, makeup, painting, poetry, photography, film etc.) to evoke emotion or thought in the viewer. So Gaga is definitely an artist. And I think there's a lot of intelligence and creativity behind her art.

And personally I love what she makes, wears, does, writes, sings, performs, paints, etc. I have been very emotionally touched by all different types of her art. so I have to say yes. I think her art is amazing

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I really hope LG5 is more experimental. The type of artist she is, I'm surprised she has never included interludes or lengthened songs with instrumental parts. You can tell her art is explosive but has been contained within pop music. But I think after ARTPOP, she will be expirementing with her sound and moving more towards maturity.

Im still surprised that Beyonce has done two visual albums and Gaga (queen of visuals and artistic expression) has not done anything close

I don't even know what is going to happen next.... It's crazy :O

i hope so! its funny, one of her biggeset and consistent criticisms is that the least avant garde thing about her is her music, and unfortunately its true.

As brilliant as it is Gaga's art is actually severely underrated.

I agree. He music is almost like the paint and her visuals, tours, music videos, interviews are the paint brush where the art comes from.

Tbh, I hope LG5 is like Lemonade. Not necessarily in sound, but a storyline with songs moving together rather than one song/next song/next song/next song. I love when albums sound like a symphony and not just a random collection of songs.

I think she is an imensely creative person, and she knows a lot about art too, the problem is that she is just too chaotic and has trouble filtering and executing her ideas, that's why she needs a team of critical people with the ability to make her ideas come to life, many artists are like that (I am). That's what she lacked in the ARTPOP era for example, you just could see she had so many ideas about what ARTPOP should be but few became a reality. That's why I think she should stick with Intel, she obviously likes technology and they are professionals that can help her make every crazy idea a reality, she just needs a team like that for LG5.

I'm just really grateful that at least someone in the industry is doing things that can be considered art. I think that's more than we deserve. I think she's more than this industry deserves.

Oh, I'm just visiting-

Her best work is usually in collaboration with another artist/director/creator. She's a terrific collaborator, but thats also why her art is so inconsistent. She has always been a jack of all trades in my books. Not saying its good or bad.

great! but her art was inconsistent during ARTPOP. I get the concept of the album but how the hell did she incorporate the concept in the songs? I get applause, venus, and only G.U.Y.. it felt like she didn't have control over her ideas or maybe somebody's trying to hold her down
