i didn't say he did as i said i copied that quote from another site, it doesn't even say he explained it but "one can assume". but thing is people did use it that way. not everyone did but you can't say noone did. anyways even without giving head thing or other stuff, becky is still a stereitypical name just like these other ones she gave examples are. and she had bad experience with it so she doesn't want people call her like that and thats all she asked. she didn't shade bey not her good hair line :rip:

stereotypes come from somewhere... I guess white people are the only ones with good hair with that notion

I never even thought about Becky meaning a white person :flop: where are people digging these conclusions from?

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Why did she feel the need to do this? She annoys me. I'm still rooting for her though. I wish she would listen to T.I. and focus on the music.

Idk. Where I'm from 'Becky' means a woman who gives head to guys often lol. My black cousin is named Rebecca and we call her Becky for short. So I'm not into the whole "Becky has to be a white girl" thing lol I understand what she's trying to say but coming from a girl that says, "I'm a run away slave master" ummm no thanks lmao

well fan got inspired by her lyric, but her response had nothing to do with the song, just her personal experience with the word

That song was about giving head from all types of women. Plus, Plies did not come up with the term Becky. My gawd. You guys seriously make me want to laugh when you come up with these conclusions about black people/culture and you do not what the hell you are talking about or looking too much into it.  :toofunny:

I laugh at how you accused me of not looking at things deeply enough when I dismissed your suggestion that Beyonce and Rihanna only get compared because they're black, but when an issue comes up concerning a slang term that's translated as being negative to white women, you say that we're looking into things too deeply. Are white people's opinions never valid to you? Are black women the only ones who deserve support?

Fair enough, until you find out that most people consider it to be a white girl's name, just like other similar names. I remember watching an episode of Tyra Banks where she asked a group of people to voice their perception of someone just based on their name alone, no visuals. When the name Ashleigh came up, almost everyone, including white people, said that they thought this was a white, blue-eyed, blonde girl and that she was spoiled, dumb and promiscuous. They also thought Deedrica was a black woman who was sassy and promiscuous and that Jose was a Mexican drug dealer. Now, obviously, that's just this small group of people. But I think it gives a glimpse into how judgemental we can be, even when it comes to something as apparently irrelevant as a name. So, I'm not taking this Becky thing lightly. If we go lightly, the name can gain status, it can spread and gain acceptance just because it's a term for whites, who can't be hurt, or so we're led to believe. If we just dismiss it, we're complicit in it.
