Erotica killed sex in pop. By 1991 AIDS was at epidemic proportions and teenage pregnancy was at all-time high. There wouldn't be another sex starlet in pop music till a young Britney Spears entered the scene in late 1998.

All the female musicians from 1991-1998 tried to sell either (a) the good girl next door image (early Mariah, Brandy, Celine, Shania etc), or (b) the angry disillusioned grunge lite chick (Alanis Morissette).

The thing is ARTPOP did not get much backlash... people just didn't know it actually existed.. the born this way promotion was huge, everybody knew Gaga was coming out with a new album. ARTPOP didnt get such treatment, stans just like to blow it out of proprtion and it leaves everybody disillusioned with what actually happened. From what I can hear from the people I talk to who dont pay attention to Gaga, they just werent aware she came out with a new album

This is so true, if you watch reviews on YouTube by straight nerdy guys that receive pop albums, they like ARTPOP better than born this way, one of them said because born this way was all in ur face and everywhere

I'm ready!!! I heard paparazzi on the radio earlier and it made me feel emotional which is the first time I have felt emotional about hearing gaga on the radio it was nostalgic I'm really excited about hearing gaga on the radio with NEW music its going to be great I love you all and this thread!!!
