I stopped taking Tidal seriously when Kayne went on a rant about how his new album was never going to be on another site except Tidal and then a week later it was streaming on iTunes. It's called changing your mind. He as an artist wanted his music on there as a partner then probably realize it would be more profitable to have everywhere after a while. Everything isn't so deep. StrawberryBlond 14,818
Of course it was a scam. Just like they did before. It baffles me how they can't see how bad this reflects on the company. That they have to bait people into buying into their service. That they have to trick them with promises of "exclusives" that last a week or less. That they want to have a monopoly over all other services (Apple already did that and they've been criticised for attempts at monopolising before). For such a successful businessman, Jay really didn't plan this one out well enough. After all these years, he probably thinks the people have just become gulliable and will do whatever big stars tell them to do. The failure of Tidal so far must have resulted in a lot of smashed ornaments in his house. Or maybe, judging by the way he keeps pushing the company on us, he translates everything he does into a success, regardless of evidence to the contrary. 8 hours ago, Kanye West said: Stop hating on Tidal. It's a revolutionary platform for artists. Why are you trying to limit artistic expression? What's revolutionary about it? It's just like every other streaming service, except more expensive. Did the world really need another one? And I'm not limiting creative expression, I'm encouraging widening it, if anything. I'm telling artists to put their music on as many platforms as they can - all the streaming sites, digital download, CD, vinyl...whatever it takes. If they want more money, that's how you do it. Exclusives can only pull in so much if not enough people know about it or don't care to part with money to witness it. Plus, it's the internet - anything put onto it can only stay exclusive for so long. Being Tidal exclusive didn't stop Kanye's album being pirated. So, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Put your music everywhere, inform people it exists and the money will roll in. The poorest artists are the ones who aren't promoted, whose music isn't sent to radio, who aren't on major labels. Don't make your music available to all and it won't sell. Putting music out into the world on every format with promo encourages sales, it's a known fact. 8 hours ago, Disenchanted said: OKAY. That's a number too high for the human brain to comprehend. And they need more???? From their poor ass fans???? for???? >????? Couldn't agree more. Don't forget that they also did that On The Run Tour together, which pulled in $109 million with just 21 dates. They've got more money than they'll spend in an lifetime. What do they need more for? Gaga once said that she doesn't get why illegal downloading annoys rich artists so much because she questions how much money people need and what they need it for. She's kept herself grounded, even after nearly 8 years of fame. I remember how she once said on tour that she doesn't care about the money or the fame, if it all went away tomorrow, as long as she had her fans, she'd be fine. Spoken like a true artist. 8 hours ago, MaryJaneHolland said: they are all trying so hard to make tidal happen.... like ''Tidal exclusive'' blah blah.... but then their albums flop so they gotta put it on itunes and everywhere Exactly. If Kanye's album had been a massive success as a Tidal exclusive, do you really think he would've put it out anywhere else? In reality, he panicked and gave in to the proven success of other platforms. Rihanna's 460 copies of Anti sold on Tidal would make anyone want to switch to a more popular brand. That's not being greedy, that's just being smart. I'd be prepared to say a lot of artists on Tidal are just greedy but not in this particular case. When did Tidal or B say that this is an exclusive and will never be released anywhere else ever. I could have sworn that was third party. You really don't get it. Apple = iTunes. Where as Tidal =/= iTunes. Please think before you start pointing out Apple. Apple Music is different to what Tidal has to offer. If Apple has an exclusive on their platform, either way it would end up in iTunes because it's the damn same company . But then we have Tidal who has nothing to offer other than their own platform. But gaining money and subscribers for something Tidal-exclusive and THEN releasing it the day after on iTunes? Crossfit

Tracks off Honeymoon previewed on Apple Music before it was released to iTunes to buy.... Just like LEMONADE was only able to be streamed on TIDAL before they released it on their store to buy. I would be on your side girl because I hate all these albums that are stream first, sell later but Apple are doing the same as Tidal now. It could quite easily happen with LG5. I was pointing out that Tidal has nothing to do with Apple. Therefore Apple Music is in property of iTunes self. Ofcourse I hate the way things are going aswell, it's just that if Tidal wants to make it exclusive, they have to keep it on their platform instead of jumping on the iTunes train to gain more money. Judas Oyster 1,914
Well, it's technically not streaming if you buy it on iTunes tbh. You only use the program to listen to the music you buy. Where in Spotify and TIDAL you stream it bc pay monthly and don't have the possibility to download anything.

I love that you've avoided discussing the actual content of Lemonade since it was released but you're still looking for any possible other reason to portray Beyonce and her decisions in a bad light. Interesting coming from the self-proclaimed critic.

Interesting coming from the self-proclaimed critic. That's because I haven't listened to Lemonade yet. Obviously, it was only on Tidal at first and as you can see, I dislike the service, so wasn't going to buy a subscription to listen. Then it became widely available but I was busy yesterday reviewing Katy B's album and with life in general. I plan to listen to it tonight after my dinner and then maybe put up a review but might leave it until tomorrow if it gets too late. If I don't speak about an album on the day of its release it's because I'm too busy or reviewing something that was released before it. And it's not just Beyonce's decision I'm criticising - as you can see, I'm criticising everyone on Tidal as well as the service as a whole. It's just that her album release was the catalyst for this topic, so I joined in with my thoughts on the entire service. I didn't even mention Beyonce's name in my post as it's about more than just her.
