Alien Tulip 12,428
3 hours ago, BrownLikePepsi said: Exactly , and I remember gaga saying ARTPOP was designed that way to be mood booster, the sonic and the beats and the ways it bounces back and forth . and to any who says "the fame" is a better album than ARTPOP, is shitting themselves apart from the hit singles that album is all filler , ARTPOP is like the fame with better sound quality n more sexy , sticky , and dutty! Plus the world would have not appreciated this godly ass, without it I love The Fame more than ARTPOP and it has nothing to do with sales since my other favorite artists (minus Mariah) are considered "flops". I love The Fame more because its conceptually fluid and has consistent melodies and visuals. The only song I don't care for on that album is Money Honey but just because I dont care for Money Honey doesn't mean its a filler. The song fits the theme of The Fame. I hate Bad Kids and think it's one of her worst songs ever but it's not a filler since it fits the theme of Born This Way. To me ARTPOP is all over the place and the songs sound too lame for me to enjoy it and I had this opinion since Halloween 2013 when the album leaked. I love DWUW, Venus, MJH and Gypsy but the rest of the album is just too corny for my taste. The album doesn't "wake me up" or "excite" it just makes me feel annoyed and want to change the song quickly.

ARTPOP is bad compared even to The Fame! The Fame has a lot of standouts and gems like Poker Face,Paparazzi,Paper Gangsta & LoveGame.ARTPOP gives no emotion. You hear Speechless and The Edge Of Glory and you feel the song but MANiCURE,Applause,Donatella & the whole album don't give you any feels, you can't have a connection! ARTPOP is her worst album..... speak for yourself the only good songs the fame has are it's singles whereas I LOVE every track on ARTPOP the only one I don't love it's dope but it's super needed in the album amidst all of those club bangers plus even thought they're up tempo bangers they move my feelings... Venus, ARTPOP, Do what U Want and gypsy have made me cry and aura makes me feel like a ton of fury is being released from my body as if I were boxing LIFE IS GOOD
Lord Temptation 11,209
"I stand here waiting for you to bang the gong. To crash the critic saying 'Is it right or is it wrong?'" Why is it when a journalist calls something a masterpiece, nobody wants to dispute it. But when a fan declares that ARTPOP is a masterpiece, we get six pages of "No. You're wrong"? ARTPOP is more than just a pop masterpiece. More than the best album of 2013. It's an indictment on the powerlessness people have in self-expression. People are afraid that if they talk about themselves nobody will listen. So they talk about others. Everyone wants to be a critic because they want their opinion to matter and to influence. The weak inside us craves the the power to deny someone. It's cruel. But it's the tragedy of the world we live in. ARTPOP tells me that those who live in cages are usually trapped by their own thoughts. They see a bird and will lecture it on how to fly.
Robo Ga 15,297
THANK YOU. Because ARTPOP is a f*kn beautiful album. Each song takes me to a different place. Mary Jane Holland is one of the best and most creative songs I've ever heard in my life. Gypsy (esp the lyrics) has kept me going every time I've felt hopeless and lonely. Dope is a disturbing yet beautiful ode to addiction. GUY is pop euphoria, whether it had actual chart success is irrelevant to me. ARTPOP is a song with so many layers I feel like I've only just begun to understand what it means, and I love when songs can do that. Do What U Want is amazing and my friends love it, Applause was my LIFE when it came out, Sexxx Dreams has the best chorus of any dance song I've ever heard, and Donatella makes my gayness truly reach its full potential So, GOD BLESS that we are finally appreciating ARTPOP. Because you're so right, it's a god damn masterpiece. 🤖⚡️

AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,734
You HAVE to listen to it on headphones or loud speakers tho. Then it's a masterpiece. Otherwise, nah. but Fashion!, Dope, Gypsy, and Do What U Want are legendary.
artpoprebellion 325
In my opinion, ARTPOP is a very good pop album. Each song follows somewhat of the same sort of theme, and several songs on the album are well produced and have good melodies. However, I don't know if I'd call it her masterpiece as I believe works like The Fame Monster and Born This Way come closer to that title.

I find Gypsy to be the only relatable song on the album but executed poorly I wouldn't something a la Taylor Swift, but I think she went too far into world of fantasy with ARTPOP DWUW is about fame. it wasn't laaaahv
Haroon 49,685
I agree that some songs are amazing on a heavenly level (Venus, ARTPOP, DWUW, Applause, MANiCURE) but then the album is majorly dragged down by the extremely un-amazing ones (Dope, Jewels n Drugs, Fashion!, Sexxx Dreams) It's like a rollercoaster and not in a good way Overall I do like it because the positives outweigh the negatives, but the negatives are enough for me to not think it's anywhere near a masterpiece If any of Gaga's albums are then I'd say Born This Way
TheBatman 951
It's a decent album, but not a masterpiece. It is just soulless. Honestly, to me thats gaga's biggest drawback, theres so little to connect to. It doesn't take you on an emotional journey. I'm on a high from Lemonade, and that **** made you FEEL. It made you hate your man and then love him endlessly! It made you her sister, her mother, her daughter, her friend, and HER. Closest thing to a masterpiece Gaga has had is The Fame Monster ep. BTW is nearly a masterpiece too, both are amazing! Both had interesting ideas to explore that were both avant garde and yet relatable on a personal level. ARTPOP is art for the sake of art. Color for the sake of color. Sound for sounds sake. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, or that it isn't still "art", just saying that the most moving and memorable pieces of art convey something universal about our soul. There's something human and living in it.

There's something human and living in it. It isn't soulless because you can't connect to it. It is "soulless" to you because AP is for us a look into her world. It is not meant to connet with you and your experiences. All the songs have their stories and emotions. DWUW - A peak at how controlled she is due to not wanting to lose fame, and how badly the media beats her up. Dope - Fame and fortune have caused her so much pain, in disastrous levels even. Applause - Her feelings towards her fans, and pointing out thatthey can be reluctant. Gypsy - Her missing people dear to her because of what she does. And I could go on. Just because you can't understand and appreciate something for what it is, don't call it soulless. I'd rather call you selfish for not understanding something that is not all about you. it wasn't laaaahv
