So sad. I get that hormones play a big part in young peoples lives, but there's just no excuse for violence. I'd be interested to see where this goes, charges wise

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) --A 16-year-old student has died after she was assaulted by several other students inside a high school bathroom in Wilmington, Delaware.
 

It happened at the Howard High School of Technology in the 400 block of East 12th Street on Thursday morning.

At a vigil Thursday night, friends and classmates identified the girl as Amy Joyner, a sophomore. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine her exact cause of death.

No charges have been announced. Two girls and several witnesses are at the Wilmington Police Department being interviewed by detectives.

Mayor Dennis Williams had to take a moment to compose himself while speaking at a news conference, held a short time after learning the student had passed away.

"I'm so upset that the young lady lost her life today. Things like this shouldn't happen. My heart bleeds for the family, the kids that go to this school, administrators, and our city," he said.

Students at the school told Action News reporter Chad Pradelli that the fight was over a boy, and that the girl was fighting with another girl in a bathroom when she was jumped.

One girl said she was in a stall when the fight broke out.

"She was fighting a girl and then that's when all these other girls started banking her - like jumping on her," she said.

Poor girl. She didn't deserve to die in a bathroom, she could of brought something great to the world, but these crazy ass bitches thought otherwise. Such disregard is not natural.

If I was a guy, and I heard someone got hurt/die by a group over me, I would not date any of them  Can't control your emotions and respect other people? Opposite of my dream date  Why would they think this is okay?

I can never understand how you can get in a physical fight over a guy (or a girl). I am sure there are more reasons involved and there were previous signs to bullying. Sadly, most bystanders don't care if other people are being bullied/harassed and it's just disgusting that their fight escalated to the point where someone died.

My guess is that they will be lenient with the girls who they were questioning because they are underage and that not one person is responsible but a group? I think somebody must've hit the victim with something hard in the head or it was an accident and she slipped or something?
