androiduser 7,438
@PopThatArt but you are mostly naming legendary musicians, but they are not necessarily superstars in the same way Prince MJ and Madonna were.

Psychedelic 1,098
Kylie, Janet, Cher, Cyndi, and George Michael say HI! And there are also many others @RAMROD mentioned, although they weren't as "major" as Madonna or the ones I mentioned above!
TheBatman 951
Everyone you are showing pics of is amazing for sure. But when it comes to global icons the likes of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, etc, these rock stars and musicians aren't up there with Madonna, they just aren't. Dolly Parton, sure. But the OP was about the 80's icons, and of those, M is all we have left. Cher is still around (60's 70's) and Janet and Mariah are icons though they never got to that MJ Prince Madonna Whitney level of icon status.
Nino 12
Some of y'all have a really loose definition for the word icon OT: Madonna's worked hard towards excellent health her whole career. It's tragic, but not shocking this is how things played out.

Like others mention, there's Cher and Cyndi, but there is also all the Rock Gods from the 80s still around. I take it you don't follow rock music or metal or anything other than pop. Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Van Halen, Poison, Def Leppard, Journey, Aerosmith, Metallica, Kiss, Whitesnake, U2. The lead singers of those groups, the bass players, drummers, they are still around and they are iconic and total legends. Geez you came at my harsh. Those guys aren't bigger than the four listed. ctherainbow 3,162
Bruce Springsteen is still around, though. The boss is a ****ing icon for everyone who doesn't just listen to female pop and R&B-influenced pop. He has colossal album sales in the US(64.5 million, the same number as Madonna), 11 top ten hits in the 80s, multiple #1s on the rock charts(rock being one of the dominant music genres for the GP back then), and he still has a fiercely loyal following that enables him to go on stadium tours worldwide. His current tour, which is about halfway done, has already grossed over $64 million dollars, and his most recent album peaked higher on some countrys' charts than Rebel Heart, including the US and the UK, although it did end up selling less than Rebel Heart. @DiscoHeaven23, perhaps you should update the title to say "Madonna the Only 80s Pop Icon Left". That would be slightly more accurate. I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.
