Why is 'Gypsy' not more popular?

Gypsy is far from being a bad song, in my opinion. Still, it's quite "basic" compared to the rest of ARTPOP, and it's production doesn't sound much like gaga.. It's quite a generic song, beautifully revived when sung live. At the beginning, I used to like it but after the artrave I never listened to it again, I really can't connect to it.

Maybe it could have done nice as a single, but picking DWUW as a second single instead of it was a good choice, before the big meltdown happened

I think it's definitely one of the best songs she's ever written, it's gorgeous, the words and melody flows effortlessly. And the outro is just fan-fücking-tactic.

But it's far from being a typical Gaga track, which is why I think some fans are resistant to it. It's upbeat, very happy, unabashedly romantic. People have called it cheesy, but I think that's incorrect, and I would venture to guess that many of those who feel that way can't relate (yet) to the kind of relationship that the song is about.

For me, "cheesy" means over-the-top and lacking authenticity, and I think the song is nothing if not sincere.

It's a cute song and it has a beautiful meaning that Gaga has explained it, but it's just ANOTHER song on the album to me. It's been months since I've listened to it and it's just that it has this feeling that they said "Let's write another The Edge of Glory/Hair emotional song just to close the album", then they did and then Applause happened, but they kept both songs there.

It's a good song, but it's a very predictable cheesy song. It feels like it was on the album just to have a safe song to release as a single. I don't want to be mean but I sure think Gaga had plans to release Act II and they decided to keep Fashion!, Donatella, MANiCURE, Gypsy and probably one or another song just to have enough material for an album and they kept some really great tracks for the second part, which never happened.

Mte.  And it's catchy.  Could have easily been a hit single, imo.

I live outside the space time continuum.

There is something about it that makes me not to like it.

I mean, it's not that I hate it but I don't love it neither.

I wonder if the fans' reception to it would have been different if it had been released as a single.

It's weird because literally all my friends love Gypsy (My friends are not fans nor haters). One of my friends still listen to the song once a while.
