Unique Promo Ideas

Let me geek out for a second...

So it's no lie that the music industry is in rough shape nowadays, especially now that content is being constantly uploaded by anyone and everyone. There's a lot of noise on the internet, and many traditional methods of promotion don't really work as well as they used to at the beginning of the social media era.

We all know that Beyoncé has been very proactive at combating this with the iconic surprise release and visual album element, and Adele's comeback commercial was very successful too at prepping the world for her new album, so my question is this:

What would you suggest to Gaga as an exciting (but not overdone) way to release her new album?

Before Beyoncé announced Lemonade I thought it would be really cool if Gaga did a Netflix mini-series that was sort of like a documentary about her creative process... Something that humanizes her in the eyes of the GP (since the younger generation tends to idolize people they can see in their "squad" lol), but also reminds them why she's ****ing superstar and deserves the spotlight. So the viewer could see her making the record and the piecing together the visuals, while also talking about her influences etc. (other behind the scenes stuff like her life in Malibu and beloved horses lol) that would hype and promote the album all on its own (by making Gaga "cool" again and showcase how bad ass she is)- then a month later drop the album.

So anyway Little Managers, put your creative marketing hats on and scheme below... Maybe Bobby will take note (hihi hire me please):gaycat:

Don't let my thread flop please! Surely this has to be more fun than the usual ten threads a day being cryptic or complaining about how long the wait is. :hor:

I think a lot of this should've been the Richardson Documentary, wherever it is.

I really liked the snippet of the Adele Hello promo. Just some lyrics played on the ad and nothing else.

Yeah. RIP to what could have been...

Maybe she can salvage some of the footage as B roll, since anything with Richardson's name attached would not be cute after the TIHTY era. She'll have to invest in a new videographer.

i remember someone once suggested here that Gaga's album cover should contain some kind of illusion that would go extremely viral - similar to the White/Gold and Black/Blue dress situation! (her then explaining it as a depiction of the album itself, everyone interpreting it differently)

can you imagine the publicity and promo the album would get?

And it'd be cheap. The only issue is that it might be a bit of a gamble... I feel like the most random things become viral. And if you bank on something getting huge exposure and it doesn't then you have to scramble and come up with something else that'll get the job done.

But I guess there's risk involved with just about anything. My little Netflix idea could flop hard.

Adele did very little to promote 25, actually...and nothing truly innovative...she just surfed the wave of ppl waiting for years for a successor to 21...

And Beyoncé did great, I think, bc self titled is a great album...but it could have easily blown back...the surprise released helped, but the quality of the album is what kept it afloat...

Idk how to feel about this "guerrilla" promo thing, tbh...it might come off a little desperate and in Gaga's current position I think ppl in general would see whatever she does as "trying too hard to get ppl's attention again".

Maybe a surprise release for the lead single (everyone does it nowadays, so it wouldn't hurt her at this point), with simultaneous MV upload to YT, Radio release (with one of those "song of the week" deals) and a good performance in a big event (we know how a good performance in an award show can get the whole world talking the next day) would be enough for her to "come back on the scene"...you know, a traditional release, just properly timed and properly guided (something she hasn't had in a very long time)...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I think Gaga should do something which really fits into the concept of the album..
If it really is something about Chaos I could imagine that shortly before her album gets released.. all around the globe mysterious boxes in cities with frequently used places pop up and show  QR-Codes which links to a special website, which can only be visited with that code, but nobody really knows what the website is about.. so people start to talk about it and spread it on twitter/IG/vine (i think vine is very important to start sth going viral even when it's underrated the GP)

So the website could contain something very "intel-like", like her voice telling a story about chaos with mystique visuals.. (but the viewer doesn't really know that it is gaga-related though but pushes the excitement) as the mini-clip suddenly stops automatically the viewer has to interact with the website in a special way in order to unlock the whole experience.. i could imagine something which katy perry did when promoting PRISM but still innovative (idk exactly what but the direction would be kind of exciting for me) and unthinkable

the website could only be unlocked when a certain amout of users interacted with it.. if the amount is achieved the website is about to get unlocked. at the same moment Gaga's lead single is about to be broadcasted on times square, picadilly, and on every places the boxes have been before to send out chaos to all over the world like an apocalyse which the viewers had triggered by interferring with the Chaos Angel (gaga)

at the same time gaga announces the release date of her album and releases a video (not the MV) about the LG5 (chaos-related) experience and solves the riddle about the website and everything related to it........

album early july. the promo of the album - a short commercial (not more than 10 sec) with some instrumental of the album and simple theme, as the commercial ends the release date is written on the screen while gaga's voice in the background announces the title (imagine gaga quietly saying ''chaos angel'' or ''butterfly'')

wouldn't this be fun and excellent promo? :gaycat:
