You do know that the donations are the only reason Bernie is still in this campaign, right? He's making tons of money and giving even more to his buddies Tad Devine and Jeff Weaver. They're all in it for the money.

Yes, I do. And no I don't believe they are only in it for the money.

Don't turn a joke into a political debate, please. You can think whatever you want without looking to pick arguments.

I won't read the thread because Sanders' younger online supporters are notorious for bitterly attacking anyone who dares to disagree with them politically, but I just want to say I am enormously proud to have Lady Gaga voicing her support and casting her vote for Hillary Clinton, the next president of the United States! I've already cast my vote for next week's primary in my home state.  Onto the general!

spoken like a true geezer!

At least she's not voting for Trump or Cruz :hor:

New York is a closed primary - which means only democrats can vote for the democrat nominnee.  So she can't vote Trump or Cruz even if she wanted to.

I just question why she supports a candidate who flip flops their ******LGBT****** views for political points?

Bernie was the same, so she couldn't support him either...right?

Obama was the same too and she supported him.

Who exactly should she support....because there is no candidate that matches up with your personal requirements of who Gaga should vote for.

Well, I didn't say she had to support a candidate on the two-party system..

But hold up, there is a difference between Bernie's record on LGBT rights and Clinton's.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that Hillary supported gay marriage FAR before she publicly came out for it - I think her decision to oppose gay marriage publicly was politically motivated, not motivated by her values. Bernie did come out in support a lot earlier than Clinton, but judging him on his other efforts on LGBT rights I feel a similar way about him. I think he supported gay marriage earlier than he ever admitted publicly.

In saying that though, name one scenario where Hillary has been ahead of the curve and progressive in terms of rights for LGBT people?

Here is Bernie's record:

"In 1983, as mayor of Burlington, he signed a Gay Pride Day proclamation calling it a civil rights issue. He was one of just 67 members in the House of Representatives to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act, a politically tough decision he prides himself on and points to as a key progressive bona fide. Sanders opposed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell in 1993, another President Bill Clinton-era policy, and supported civil unions in Vermont in 2000."

"In 2006, when the Bush White House proposed an amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between a man and a woman, Sanders spoke out against the Republican plan, saying it was “designed to divide the American people.”

It seems Bernie was at least open to the idea of gay marriage in 2006 when he fought against the republican plan to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

In 1972 during the very beginnings of the gay rights movement Bernie supported the LGBT community, calling to decriminalise homosexuality.

I'm not saying Hillary is bad for LGBT folk, I'm just saying she hasn't really been the leader on LGBT issues. She has generally played it pretty safe, supporting LGBT issues only when the polls determine that they are definitely not contentious issues anymore.

In 2011 Hillary helped pass a UN resolution stating that gay people shouldn't be locked up, tortured, raped, killed or abused due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. Props to her, that is an absolutely fantastic resolution, she did well. But I don't think that was a controversial position for the US Secretary of State to support at the time, many other very conservative world leaders also supported the decision. The only ones opposed to the resolution included impoverished and/or war torn countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, North Korea, Afghanistan etc.

Hillary supported DOMA, DADT was defended by Hillary and was instituted by Bill Clinton.

Bernie has championed gay rights since the 1970's even when it was hugely unpopular. Hillary arguably started weakly supporting the LGBT community around 2009 with little action and without sticking her neck out for the community. With DOMA and DADT Hillary supported roadblocks to equality.

As First Lady:

-in 1993, she invited openly-gay couples to the White House.

-in 1997, she was the first First Lady to march in Pride (she also marched multiple times as NY Senator).

-from 1998-1999, First Lady Hillary Clinton's aides began working to defeat the ban on gay adoptions (at her instructions).

-from 1993-2000, as First Lady Hillary pushed to increase AIDS research funding, which had been ignored and insufficient during the Reagan/Bush administrations.

-in 1999 she backed domestic partnerships to ensure benefits for all Federal employees.

-in December 1999, as First Lady, she spoke out against DADT, in disagreement with her husband, Bill Clinton.

-in 2000, the First Lady's Policy Aid pushed for a presidential order banning federal contractors from discriminating based on sexual orientation.

-in 2000, the First Lady's Policy Aid pushed for a presidential order banning federal contractors from discriminating based on sexual orientation.

As Senator:

-in 2000, she was the only national politician to march in the LGBT sponsored St. Patrick's day parade.

-from 2001/2003, she cosponsored ENDA.

-in 2004, she voted against the federal constitutional amendment and was instrumental in helping LGBT lobbyists fight against it.

-in 2006, she fought to preserve HIV/AIDS funding in New York Stare, with the Ryan White Care Act.

-in 2006, she supported NY passing Marriage Equality.

-in 2007, she cosponsored the Matthew Shepard Act.

-in 2008, she advocated for the lifting of gay adoption bans.

Not to mention her work to expand LGBT rights in the State Department and to extend benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees.

Hillary better make Bernie her VP!

No way that will happen.

Why would he even want to do it? To possibly run in eight years? Lol

He will probably get some position, if she wins.
