mic 1,415
Actually looking at this, her number of subscribers is not that bad. If only she released some more videos directed not by herself (yes g.u.y. It's about you) the thing could look much better.

StrawberryBlond 14,900
It's not just lack of videos, it's the fact that Gaga hasn't released a video for a studio release in the current Vevo age. Nowadays, getting 100 million views is easy as pie and you're a nobody if you can't get there easily. 1 million likes is nothing - 3 million+ is the new million. 1 billion views never happened, now there are about 26 videos with that amount of views (Vevo should make a billion certified award). You'll notice that despite Applause not being Gaga's biggest hit, it's one of only 2 videos that have 1 million likes or more and it's also one of her most viewed videos of all time. That's purely because it was released in the more current age of Vevo, where songs that aren't even hits can achieve huge milestones that were once strictly reserved for megahits. I mean, look how many views GUY has! Over 75 million on the long version, over 43 million for the short. That is unbelievable for a song that was a flop and no one apart from the fans know about. That is the magic of modern Vevo. Where she really falls behind with her peers is the amount of likes, though. After all this time, still only 2 videos with 1 million likes and Pokerface with over 874k is the closest runner-up, followed by Judas with over 835k (cultural impact, eh?) That's the only bit that she could do better in, all things considered. Gaga's views and likes are going to have such a turn-around with her next era, I can't even. We'll definitely get our first 2 million liked video and maybe even our first 1 billion viewed video. This is going to be so different for her and I can't wait to see her on the same level as everyone else.

So I'm not too surprised about this at all. WHAT She was the first to reach 1B and then 2B views Hunty pls chaeri pls
PopThatArt 2,193
I think as a society we put too much importance on numbers and views, and to say Lady Gaga doesn't have a lot of views is completely silly nonsense. People are so desensitized to what achievement is these days and they expect some huge grandiose number to appear otherwise they think something is a flop. To me, how Lady Gaga has over 25 million views on each music video is a lot, it's a huge accomplishment. We're so warped by this idea that everything has to have billions of views to be great and if it doesn't it means the work is subpar or less than or total garbage. Everyone needs to stop with all this emphasis on numbers. And the real reason is because Gaga and her team don't buy views like everyone else in pop does to feign their success. I think you're completely incorrect, what we need is NOT more awards for view number, it's the opposite, the number of views should be removed, the emphasis on views should be banished, and then people will actually judge the actual work itself, they won't define it by the number of views it has or some silly award it gets for being watched. We need LESS emphasis on views, NOT MORE. And "on the same level of everyone else", thats utter bulls+hit. Gaga is far beyond so many people's level, and she's far beyond those people who have billions of views level, there you go defining Gaga's greatness by number of views and think greatness is determined by view number, it means nothing other than popularity and that people have bought views. A billion views does not make an artist, an artist makes themself an artist with their work. Gaga's level is not determined by view number, to think otherwise is pure idiocy. And to think other people are better than Gaga because they have more views is completely stupidity. Go see A Star is Born
PopThatArt 2,193
And also, look at Michael Jackson's videos on Youtube... Thriller, considered to be the greatest video of all time, for example has 315M views, some of his others videos considered great haven't cracked 100M views. By what people base greatness on these days, Michael would be irrelevant and a king of flop, not the "King of Pop". It's utter nonsense to sit there worrying about views and thinking they matter. Economy 50,108
Gagas peak in popularity was from 2009 to 2012 videos back then didnt used to get as many views as now Bad Romance would of easily gotten over 1 Billion views had it been the same hit 2 or 3 years later! How else will the companies determine who's popular and who's not and if a video is becoming a hit? View count can be superficial but it's just a natural part of the furniture too and it can really help gauge how you're being received. By "on the same level" I mean, her views and likes will now be translated into a modern scale. Bad Romance would have had so many more views and likes if it had been released under today's standards, right? I just want to see what the true reflection of her is by today's standards because it's sad how in comparison, she looks less successful than newbies who are still in one hit wonder territory just because they're releasing in a new age. No, I don't think her greatness is determined by statistics but I do know that a lot of others do judge her by that, especially record labels themselves and it's important that she's seen as profitable in their eyes, so she remains signed and is allowed to release the music that she wants. It's superficial, but that's how it works. Of course, I'm all about the art, but the suits sure aren't.
