Hollywood White WASHES Japanese Anime in movie adaptation

3.) In today's day black girls are being taught that the standard of beauty of European standard of beauty (long blond hair, blue eyes, light skin) so yeah, I can understand why people would be angry over whites wearing things that are culturally meant for People of Color
 

I think it goes both ways and is not exclusive to POC. 

Black girls are told to look more European (lighter hair, lighter eyes, long flowing hair)

But...

You look at the obsession with Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose, Beyonce and white girls are told to look more in line with African culture: bigger busts, bigger butts, tan your pasty skin, put your hair in curls or perm it, get septum peircings. 

I think it honestly goes both ways. And it's all just corporations constantly telling women, whatever they look like, it's not good enough, and you need to look more like Halle Berry if you're white, and more like Scarlett Johansson if you're black. It's not a race thing. It's a profit thing.

1.) It is exclusive to POC. I think everyone should have the right to wear whatever they want, but I can understand why POC would be offended if white people wore their culture. You wouldn't understand at all, i mean, just look at you. You don't know anything about the struggle or oppression towards minorities, you think Donald Trump is the most fit person to run for President. I don't even know why I'm trying to debate with you on a topic that doesn't pertain you nor should have your input on it (unless you're a liberal)

2.) White girls aren't told to do ****. IF they are blond, white/faired skin, wavy hair, then by default they are the standard of European beauty (which is implemented on women of color. Black girls and women of color are being TOLD that their dark skin and natural hair are NOT on par with beauty)

Oh **** I forgot you were one of those people who think it's impossible for white people to understand people's problems. 

It's almost like you are suggesting white people in general are heartless dumbasses who have an inability to be human. 

But yeah.....life problems are EXCLUSIVE to POC. Let me just go to that White Privilege bank down the street and take some cash out and my weekly pill that helps me ignore POC problems. 

Because everytime I try to understand POC and their legitimate issues, I'm told to stand from a distance and just watch...don't get involved or anything...because...you know.....I'm white and all....and white people aren't allowed to do certain things anymore because of our their whiteness.

I wanted to go to that new Creole restaurant but I didn't want to offend anyone because I'm white and we wouldn't understand how to properly taste the food because we're white and it would offend someone if me as a white person didn't savor lemon pepper zest because my white tongue is just so privileged to other white things like burgers and fries. 

God....I must be so dumb for saying all of this....no soul or heart....because....us know......I'm white.  (oh **** maybe I should not post that emoticon because I'm appropriating green emoticon culture to represent my feelings, but then again I'm white so I couldn't possibly understand green emoticon culture so I guess that means I never experience the same feelings. The way you barge in here, with your gifs conveying some sort of negative/careless emotion is going to convince me that you think this sorta discussion is a joke and its not my fault I think this since plenty of others think the same exactl way as well. I didn't say you were serious, I think you were coming off as non-serious, careless to the subject and the frustration many people have with what's happening with this movie. If the anime stars a JAPANESE PERSON, then it would be best for the person in the movie to be asian to accurately fit the fictional character. So fans can have that same bond they have to connect to when watching the anime as well as the movie.

In my opinion, roles should be given based on talent and ability to play the part. In this case the story is based in Japan, and this is a Japanese character. It was an opportunity to cast an Asian actress, who would suit the role perfectly, a chance in a film industry that seems resistant to giving roles to anyone none-white. I'm not saying I want the director to pick someone Asian over someone white simply to make up a quota of minorities in the industry, that's false progression and equally prejudiced to everyone involved. I'm saying it because an Asian person physically better fits this role, it's that simple.

Don't misinterpret me, I'm not against actors playing roles different to their own race when the interest is in the performance- after all the point of acting is to become a certain character. Here though it's a sad reflection on the state of the film industry when the first person who came to the directors mind to play an Asian character wasn't someone Asian. 

I guess what I'm trying to say is if the director picked Scarlett because he felt she was the best actress for this part, that's fine, no problem. But the more likely case that they chose her because it's more convenient for them to sell their product, that's not ok.

Motoko Kusanagi's eyes are too big, she doesn't have black or brown hair, she's not "Japanese" enough for me. A white woman can play her.

Now I could get into why this statement is wrong and the fact ya'll said it without batting an eye is extremely concerning, but let me not.

What I'm seeing in this thread is that it's ok to take a Japanese story, made by Japanese people for a Japanese market and anime fans who understand and respect Japanese culture, take out the strong Japanese female lead, and make her white because "Star Power".

The story being told is no longer Japanese. It only serves to further deny minority actors a role that could have represented them and given them opportunities, but will now only add fuel to the brewing dissatisfaction minority races are feeling. Whitewashing is a thing. They did it to Stonewall, they're doing it now.

Now I'm not going to discuss this with ya'll. There's no point.
You don't think the character look "Asian enough", a statement which is wrong in itself (and if you can't tell why, I can't help you), but you also don't see why taking a Japanese woman, and making her white is wrong.

I'm not attacking any of you, I'm not even mad, I'm just really dissapointed.
