I don't get why so many people like her as a person. She's overwhelmingly arrogant and egocentric in her songs which is only acceptable if you're a rapper, which she is not. Seriously, calling herself a queen and saying she slays? Full-grown women don't need to say that in songs except the insecure ones. In reality, a person who acts like this would be laughed at. 2. She puts very little effort into her art. It's mostly the product of others and she just changes a line or two, adds a little bit of diva flair to it (which isn't songwriting) and then puts her name on the credits. She even has the gall to put her name on the credits of cover songs which were not lyrically changed. 3. She steals music video and live performance concepts from others and even songs. She stole If I Were A Boy off the unknown artist, BC Jean and put her name on the credits and didn't even inform the girl of what she'd done. That alone is one reason that I will never support her. 4. For someone who can just sing and dance, she gets far too much praise when there are far more multi-talented artists out there who don't get a tenth of the worship she does. Singing and dancing's good and all, but I value artists on their songwriting and instrument playing on the side. A lot of people can sing and dance but a lot of people can't write songs. They're the ones who should be praised to high heaven, not someone who is just a mouthpiece for other people's creations, no matter how sweet she may sound. Now, this is somewhat controversial, but...for those who think black women don't get the props they should, take a look at how overrated Beyonce is. She gets more respect for being black, if anything. In her genre, being black automatically commands respect regardless of how good you actually are. 5. Her fans are very hard to deal with and seem to permanently talk in internet slang. Criticise one thing about their precious goddess and they go on about how she's flawless and way more successful than you'll ever be and blah blah blah. Fans who view their fave's achievements as their own, basically. Not Beyonce's fault that she has fans like this, but it means her name has a negative connotation even so. everything about this post is so true

JesseBabe 837
I've never really paid too much attention to her tbh. I like some of her songs and she is a good performer, but I don't think she's the second coming of Jesus like some people think. I also wasn't a huge fan back in 2010 with her "I'm Sasha Fierce" because she looked like she was following trends and trying to act like Gaga with all the crazy customs and stuff. I feel like she doesn't really know who she is as a person and it comes off as fake to me.

Absolutely ludicrous claim. Agree. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of twerking but it's just a fun dance, it's definitely not steeped in tradition. Some people like to think that any form of non-white dance must automatically be a cultural gem that's been around for centuries and must be respected at all costs. In reality, twerking is a dance that didn't start becoming commonplace until the 90's. According to research, it takes its roots from the West African mapouka dance, but it's just that - an inspiration, not a fully-formed dance that's been practiced by Africans the world over for generations. Not even all blacks support twerking, thinking it's crass. Just like all dance forms, some should be respected, others not so much. Twerking should be respected no more than the electric slide or the funky chicken. There's some really talented people who do it but it's still nothing but a sexualised dance made for horny people in clubs. Nothing more. At the end of the day, it's just booty shaking. Anyone can do that. Besides, all dances involve you moving that area of your body, not just African ones!
arca 213
I love her self titled, it's her best work. She's also a great performer but it stops there. I feel like she was built by people to be the perfect woman with the perfect family, someone who does no wrong and everything about her is amazing... But I honestly don't feel that way about her, she tends to bore me, and besides dancing and singing there aren't many things left that I enjoy from her (and I'm not a hater, I do listen to her from time to time)

No I am not an expert or even completely knowledgeable on such things but I do remember reading something about the origins of twerking, hence I said that. Instead of brushing it off willy nilly why don't you try and inform me as to why it is such a "ludicrous claim"? I like to learn.

On what planet is it logic to dislike an artist because of the fans? Does the music sound bad because of that? Are the perfomances sh*t or what is it? If I let the fans affect my opinion on an artist I would've turned in my Gaga stan card a long time ago. Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
