I think I this could have been the ARTPOP lead it could have been VERY ICONIC the thing is applause seemed like a safe hit for gaga but at the same time to the general public some found it a bit boring and weird sounding with the clunky beat as some people called it. I feel that if this was the lead single it would have been more cutting edge and new and gaga is known for pushing boundaries in a cool way and this version is very cool it gives me hollaback girl vibes by Gwen. i do love the original applause too but it was a slow grower on me where as this is a lot more attention grabbing and is full on weird and cool and dynamic and gaga. IMO this didn't fit in those last groups so I didn't downloaded it. I do love Reid Stefan version tough...
