Ok but I don't think sales and popularity matters when music is made for the ears. I don't care that ARTPOP flopped because I enjoyed listening to it... But what I didn't enjoy was Taylor swift and any of her music. I don't care about Taylor being in the game longer or her style and fan base. I just simply don't like her music and what I'm expressing is called an 'Opinion'.

I don't really see why everyone is hating on her though....she IS creative and talented. From the beginning of her career, she has written every single original song she has ever released. A massive majority of her songs were written ONLY by her, which is something you don't see on a lot of artist's albums. She is incredible at writing songs, especially when they are extremely emotional and drawn out. She is extremely involved in the production process and knows EXACTLY what she wants when she goes into the studio, and it always comes out flawlessly. She knows how to tell a story in her songs, one that is both easy to understand and extremely relatable, and now she can even do it on an album full of bops. 1989 especially, is extremely refined, but simplified lyrically. 

She definitely is a mediocre vocalist, but that doesn't mean her writing and creativity should be written off like many of you people love to do so often. 

 

Judging by this post she extremely massively deserves this award.

The girl friggen switched genres and excelled at both. Taylor Swift was pop culture at the end of 2014 and 2015.

This award is deserved.

My two problems with this:

1. Taylor does not push boundaries, she is not revolutionary. She makes fun pop music but there is nothing that special about it, she is getting this because she had a successful era.

2. She hasn't been around that long, she has only had a 2 year pop career, she has not proven her longevity in this genre yet. If anyone deserves an award named after them it is Madonna, she has consistently churned out hit after hit for almost 40 years (ignoring Rebel Heart), defined the 80's in terms of sound, is one of the most influential women in history, and has actually experimented in her music.
