She wasnt just another fan. "In 1991, her niece persuaded her to go to a Selena concert in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Saldívar became a fan and decided to form a fan club promoting Selena. She contacted the singer's father and manager Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. seeking permission to start one. After a meeting with Quintanilla, Jr., he agreed to Saldívar's request, and she became the founder, and acting president, of the Selena fan club. In January 1994, Selena opened two boutiques in Texas, one in Corpus Christi, the other in San Antonio. Because of her touring schedule, she was unable to run the businesses and decided to appoint Saldívar as manager, since Quintanilla, Jr. believed she was the perfect choice, having successfully filled the role as president of the fan club for three years." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_of_Yolanda_Sald%C3%ADvar#Yolanda_Sald.C3.ADvar Indeed, she stole her money and mismanaged the fanclub to exploit it for her own profit, but still: she started out as a huge fan of Selena. 1 minute ago, Harry said: Yes but that's not exclusive to Gaga. Every major star has crazy stans. I don't know anything about Selena's murder or the person that did it so can't specifically comment on that, but if any mentally ill person starts obsessing over an artist or celebrity then it can be dangerous. Bjork's situation springs to mind. I don't see how a thread on here is making you feel that one of us is going to kill Gaga? This conversation is really odd and in bad taste imo I mean, I didn't start this for sh*ts and giggles. Some of the comments and assumptions that are made about Gaga or any other female musician are absolutely horrendous. Why should I be silent when I could show where those kinds of mentalities actually go, if the person who thinks like that is not just a notorious keyboard warrior, but has the motivation to act on their thoughts. If this makes just one person go "Oh, maybe I should actually care about my own sh*t instead of spending 24/7 trash-talking and obsessing over somebody who doesn't know who I am.", I accomplished my mission. WE KNOW WHEN WE GO TOO FAR!! You have absolutely no idea what can go on in someone's head. Some people are so deranged and obsessed they'd do anything to mark their idol's life, and that can include murder. I suggest you look into past incidents involving crazy fans and celebrities, it is truly terrifying what people can do. On another level, even more regular fans can be harmful without even realizing it: I've witnessed many a time celebs being literally mobbed and crushed by fans who had nothing but good intentions. But people just get crazy and forget in seconds that celebs are humans too, and they're constantly being put in incredibly dangerous and traumatizing situations. I honestly don't know how people like Gaga do it: I mean, I've approached her several times and found myself in the middle of actual riots, and to believe that this is her day-to-day life is simply astounding. Experiencing this every ****ing day of your life...

Bye @ the Tumblr essays. This thread is ****ed up to both Selena and Gaga, and you need to have several seats. And don't bother quoting me with your Tumblr meltdowns because I quite frankly don't give a **** about you or your opinion. JevyDuty 2,961
This thread is not cute. I hope that wasn't what you was aiming for. I'm very tempted to go crazy up in this bitch but let me try the civilized way. Selena was a rising star that ended up becoming a bright star after she was murdered by a bitch she was comfronting for stealing, on her own and in a motel. Gaga is safe. Stop it! Do you even listen to Selena Quintanilla's music? or did you just watch the biopic with jlo and just called yourself a fan from her english songs? It's disgusting that you're comparing excited Lady Gaga fans to Yolanda Saldivar If you really want to get into Selena and know more about her story then I suggest you read her sister Susie's book and listen to Selena's trejano music especially her debut album. Yes it's possible that ANY artist can end up like Selena if they deal with a psycho person like Yolanda but Selena went to the motel Yolanda was staying at with no body guards. You're right. I read her husband's book. She knew Yolanda was going crazy but was too naive to realize that she could get hurt. She really wanted to prove her dad wrong and fix her own problems and show him that she could run her own business. She's was only 23 and very naive and wanted to prove something. Her situation wasnt as simple as an overzealous fan. Also, this thread is gross af. Some of you have to do better with your lives, seriously.
Supersonic 49,376
I mean, speaking from the reactions I see I hit a nerve. The essay long posts accussing me of being a Tumblr SJW (completely oblivious that the post I quoted is an excerpt of wikipedia lmfao), the same people who are known for notoriously criticizing Gaga at any occasion liking all the posts that either are aimed as personal jabs at me or blatantly ignore the point I was trying to make are a clear indicator that a lot of people lack self-awareness and don't ever question their own behaviour and initial responses. I didn't make this thread to poke fun of Selena at all, I made this to point out that maybe, just maybe the way you are responding to situations like that is more inappropiate and damaging than you personally think. If you can't admit that sometimes you are wrong, I'm really sorry for you. I hope that you'll learn in the future, that being on the wrong side of an argument does not mean that you're a failure and that you can still redeem yourself by standing up for what is right.
